American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a PCU position caring for high-acuity orthopedic and trauma patients at a Level 1 Trauma Center, requiring BLS and ACLS certification.Job Details•Work in a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) at a tertiary care, Magnet-recognized hospital,•Care for high-acuity orthopedic trauma patients, including post-operative total joints, ORIF, hand surgery, laminectomy, bladder suspension, and other surgical overflow cases,•Patient ratios are typically 1:5, with occasional flex to 1:6 as needed,•Night shifts, three 12-hour shifts per week from 18:45 to 07:15,•Eight weekend shifts required per six-week schedule period,•Regular floating required between PCU floors and other units as needed,•On-call required: 1-2 weekdays per week and 2 weekends per 13 weeks,•Uses Epic EMR system,•Utilizes specialized equipment such as traction, bulb syringe, braces, casts, crutches, Doppler, walker, Hemovac, PICC line, midline, Alaris pump, and PCA,Job Requirements•Active RN license for both Kansas and Missouri or an active compact license in hand at time of consideration,•Minimum 2 years of recent specialty experience in PCU or similar settings, with at least 1 year of in-specialty experience within the past 12 months with no employment gap over 90 days,•BLS and ACLS certifications required,•Level 1 trauma and teaching hospital experience required,•Proficiency in blood product administration, IV therapy, peripheral/PICC line care, starting IVs, wound care, wound vac, PCA, and mobility,•Experience with orthopedic trauma, peripheral nerve block catheters, and surgical drains,•No acceptance of local candidates living within 50 miles of the facility,•References from two supervisors or charge RNs from the past year required,•Must complete required pre-start modules as part of compliance,Additional Information•Responsible for post-op care of orthopedic trauma patients and managing a large patient turnover with high-volume admits,•May be assigned as Charge RN or to work holiday shifts as needed,•Must adhere to a maximum of 7 days requested time off,•Drug screening required; positive or diluted results may result in ineligibility for 6 months,•First-time travelers are accepted and welcomed,•Pre-employment modules expected to be completed prior to start and annually,•Free parking available on-site,•Facility may offer positions without conducting interviews but can accommodate interview requests if preferred,•Scrub requirements not specified
