American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Neuro ICU position requiring Level 1 trauma and EVD experience in an acute care setting.Job Details•Work in a 32-bed Neuro ICU at a Level 1 trauma acute care hospital,•Patient population includes critical neuro cases such as cranial surgeries, brain tumor removals, ablations, brain biopsies, and complex spine surgeries,•Nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:2 in ICU; may float to Tele with ratio of 4:1,•Use of Cerner EMR and Phillips monitors for telemetry,•Shift is 12-hour days (7am to 7pm) with four weekend shifts per four weeks and requirement to work two of the major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas, New Year's),•Floating required to all ICU and Telemetry units; first to float,•Ventilator management required; respiratory therapy and pharmacy available 24/7,•Charge nurse available but does not take patients,•Floor-specific orientation includes two shifts,Job Requirements•Active RN license (State or Compact) required and must be in hand at time of application,•Current BLS and ACLS certifications required,•Minimum two years of recent ICU experience in facilities with 450+ beds,•Must have current Level 1 trauma experience,•Experience with external ventricular drain (EVD) management required,•Must have strong neuro assessment and intracranial pressure (ICP) monitoring skills,•Minimum 3-6 months of travel RN experience required (no first-time travelers),•Must pass a dysrhythmia (DYS) exam prior to accepting the offer (two attempts allowed),•Must pass a sterile field competency exam and complete SIMs Lab for Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes on day one of orientation,•References required: one from a supervisor within the past 12 months and one from a peer or supervisor within the past three years,•Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility as confirmed by driver's license,•Men must be clean-shaven for fit testing; all RNs must have natural hair color and no facial piercings,Additional Information•Primary responsibilities include delivering advanced neuro critical care, monitoring ICP, and managing complex postoperative neuro patients,•Expected to maintain sterile technique and perform tasks such as Foley catheter and central line dressing changes per SIMs Lab standards,•Must be proficient in floating between units and adapting to varied patient loads,•Team includes dedicated charge nurses, respiratory therapists, and 24/7 pharmacy support,•COVID and Flu vaccination may be required per current health guidelines,•Steel grey scrubs required for neuro floors; otherwise, any non-offensive color or print is acceptable,•Returning employees who have worked at any CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity facility within the past year will not be considered,•Candidates are subject to a pass/fail test on orientation day and throughout training,),•hash,:•14873673777417138448,
