American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Telemetry position on a high-acuity unit with night shifts and EKG reading requirements.Job Details•Work in the Medical Telemetry (Tower 5) unit within an acute care hospital setting,•High-acuity patient population including GYN surgeries, pre liver transplant, ESRD, cellulitis, pneumonia, diabetes, and DKA,•Unit has 30 beds with a typical nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4,•Night shifts are 12 hours (7:00 PM to 7:00 AM),•Weekend coverage required, with four shifts every four weeks,•Required to work two out of three major holidays during the contract,•Must float to any Med/Surg or Telemetry floor as needed,•EMR system used is Cerner,•RNs must read EKGs and use Phillips telemetry monitoring equipment,•Non-vented patients only; experience with Bipap and Cpap required,•Charge nurse on shift with no patient assignment and two patient care techs per shift,•IV Team and SWAT RN available for difficult IV access,•Floor-specific orientation provided for two days,•Required to pass on-site SIMs Lab skills test for Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes on day one,Job Requirements•Active RN license in the state or compact license required at the time of submission,•Minimum two years of RN experience in a medical/surgical telemetry setting,•Current BLS and ACLS certifications are required,•Must have IV insertion and maintenance experience,•Ability to read and interpret EKGs independently,•Pass the DYS (Relias Dysrhythmia) exam prior to accepting the assignment, with up to two attempts permitted,•Must have natural hair color and no facial piercings; men must be clean-shaven for fit testing,•Must pass a skills lab on the first day of orientation for sterile technique,•Must meet the 50-mile radius rule from the facility, verified by driver's license,Additional Information•Responsible for providing comprehensive care to high-acuity patients in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team,•Frequent turnover with up to one-third of patients changing per day,•Compliance with strict sterile technique is required; failure to pass skills lab may lead to assignment termination,•Navy scrubs must be worn while on shift,•First-time travelers will be considered,•Returning candidates may not have worked for any CommonSpirit-affiliated facility in the last 12 months in a direct employment role,•Candidates must provide a current driver's license for address verification,),•hash,:•4335969459169160436,
