American Traveler is hiring an experienced ICU RN for a Level 1 trauma center, requiring 3 years of recent ICU experience including neuro or CV exposure.Job Details•Work in a Level 1 trauma acute care ICU setting with 32 to 36 beds and overflow units,•Patient population includes trauma, neuro, surgical, cardiac, vascular, and medical critical care patients over age 15,•Common cases include trauma, neuro-surgical, cardiac surgery, sepsis, ARDS, and COVID,•Nurse-to-patient ratios are typically 1:2 or 1:1 depending on acuity,•RNs titrate a wide range of drips including vasopressors, sedatives, and inotropes,•RNs must interpret their own telemetry strips using GE monitors; there are no monitor techs,•Ventilator management includes Dreager, Hamilton, Puritan Bennett 840, V60 BiPap, and Airvo equipment,•Use of Cerner EMR is required,•Night shift, 12-hour shifts, with self-scheduling and manager balancing as needed,•Requires 3 weekend shifts per 4 week schedule; weekends align to Friday-Saturday (nights) or Saturday-Sunday (days),•Floating between surgical, medical/cardiac, and overflow ICU units as well as to telemetry (1:3 or 1:4 ratios),•First to float to sister facility if necessary,•No on-call required; may experience low census up to 3 times per contract,•Navy scrubs required,Job Requirements•Active RN license (State or Compact) must be in hand at time of consideration; pending licenses not accepted,•Minimum 3 years of recent ICU experience is required, including either neuro or cardiovascular ICU exposure,•Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required,•Must pass UNA Dysrhythmia Exam within 48 hours before acceptance, with a maximum of 2 attempts,•Must pass a Sim Lab on Day 1 of orientation on sterile technique for Foley and central line dressing changes,•Must be able to interpret cardiac monitor strips independently,•Driver's license required for consideration,•Two professional references required: one supervisor from the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from the last 3 years including dates of employment and eligibility for rehire,•Candidates may not have worked directly for any facility associated with CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity within the past year,•COVID and Flu vaccination may be required,Additional Information•Responsibilities include critical care for trauma, surgical, neuro, cardiac, and medical ICU patients,•Support from 24/7 in-house intensivists and respiratory therapists specializing in ICU care,•Charge nurse does not take patients and is available for support,•No nurse aides; health unit secretary and sitters only as needed,•Skills in trauma, neuro, specialty devices, and titration of complex drips will be validated,•First-time travelers are accepted if all experience requirements are met,•1-2 days of unit-specific orientation provided,•May have only 1 holiday off during the assignment,),•hash,:•3284517866590402012,
