Job descriptionCNC Machinist - Large Bed Milling (Aerospace & Defense)Location: Columbus MSSalary: $30-$35/hrDepartment: Manufacturing / ProductionJob Type: Full-TimeReports To: Manufacturing ManagerPosition Summary:We are seeking a highly skilled CNC Machinist with expertise in operating and maintaininglarge bed milling machines to support the manufacturing of precision components for theaerospace and defense sectors. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding oftechnical drawings, advanced machining techniques, and experience working withaerospace-grade materials in a high-tolerance environment.Key Responsibilities:Operate and maintain large bed CNC milling machines to produce high-precisionaerospace and defense components in accordance with tight tolerancespecifications.Read, interpret, and apply complex aerospace technical drawings, blueprints, andCAD/CAM files to ensure machining accuracy.Troubleshoot machine malfunctions, setup discrepancies, and machininginefficiencies to minimize production downtime.Perform first-article inspections and continuous in-process quality checks usingprecision instruments including calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and indicators.Collaborate with engineering, quality, and production teams to address challengesrelated to complex geometries and specialized aerospace materials.Assist in developing, editing, and optimizing CNC programs (G-code or CAMsoftware), particularly for multi-axis machines, if experienced.Follow all aerospace manufacturing protocols and maintain a clean, organized, andsafety-compliant work area.Preferred Qualifications:3+ years of experience operating CNC machines in a precision manufacturingenvironment; experience with large bed CNC milling machines is strongly preferred.Strong mechanical aptitude with proven troubleshooting skills, especially withaerospace-grade metals and composites.Advanced ability to interpret engineering drawings with Geometric Dimensioning andTolerancing (GD&T) for aerospace and defense applications.Familiarity with CNC control systems (e.g., Fanuc, Siemens, Haas); experience withCAM software is a plus.Knowledge of preventive maintenance techniques and basic machine diagnostics.Capable of working independently and prioritizing tasks in a fast-paced, quality-focused environment.Education & Certifications:High school diploma or GED required.Completion of a formal CNC machining program, trade school, or apprenticeshippreferred.Additional certifications in precision machining or CNC programming (e.g., NIMS,HAAS certification) are a plus.Physical Requirements:Must be able to stand for extended periods (10+ hours per shift).Ability to lift and move objects up to 50 pounds.Frequent bending, stooping, reaching, and manual dexterity required.Visual acuity to read precision instruments and technical drawings.Must be able to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) including safety glasses,steel-toe boots, and hearing protection as required.Job Type: Full-timePay: $30.00 - $35.00 per hourBenefits: 401(k) Dental insurance Health insurance Paid time off Vision insurance Schedule: 8 hour shift Day shift Monday to Friday Shift availability:Day Shift (Preferred)Ability to Commute:Columbus, MS 39701 (Required)Ability to Relocate:Columbus, MS 39701: Relocate before starting work (Required)Work Location: In person
