Job Summary
We are seeking a seasoned Production Process Engineering Manager to lead our team of engineers and technicians in developing, optimizing, and maintaining robust injection molding processes. This role is pivotal in ensuring operational efficiency, product quality, and continuous improvement on our production floor.
Key Responsibilities
  • Team Leadership: Manage and mentor a team of up to 12 process engineers and technicians across three shifts, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
  • Process Development: Establish, document, and implement injection molding processes adhering to scientific molding principles, ensuring consistency and quality.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with Quality Control, Operations, Tooling, and Maintenance teams to align on production priorities and resolve technical challenges.
  • Equipment Optimization: Oversee the setup and maintenance of sprue pickers, robots, end-of-arm tooling, mold controllers, and part containment systems.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify and implement process and equipment enhancements to boost efficiency, capability, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Standardization: Develop and enforce rigorous process documentation and control systems to maintain high-volume production standards.
  • Talent Development: Partner with the Director of Engineering on hiring, training, performance evaluations, and succession planning to ensure team growth and stability.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Manufacturing, or related field) strongly preferred.
  • Certifications: American Injection Molding Institute (AIM) certification is a strong plus.
  • Experience:
    • Demonstrated ability to lead a technical team to deliver products and/or processes within aggressive timelines meeting challenging requirements.
    • Proven experience implementing controlled molding processes into a production manufacturing environment.
    • Experience with lot number traceability, engineering-grade resins, and specification-driven processes.
    • Proficiency in molding simulation software, with preference for Moldex3D.
    • Expertise in injection molding equipment, including specifying, upgrading, repairing, maintaining, and preventive maintenance systems.
    • In-depth knowledge of plant injection molding auxiliary equipment, such as mold water/oil thermolators, hot manifold systems, screws, barrels, ceramic barrel heater bands, material drying and conveying systems, and dew-point meters.
  • Technical Proficiency:
    • Strong understanding of scientific molding principles, decoupled molding, and process validation techniques.
    • Experience in Microsoft Office suite of programs - Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
  • Leadership Skills: Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams, manage multiple priorities, and drive results in a fast-paced environment.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively convey technical information.
