POSITION SUMMARY:
This is administrative/ professional work in the area of the student accountsoffice.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Providesexcellent customer service related to student inquiries and assists withstudent retention efforts.
Annualpreparation and submission of the University's 1098-T file.
Analyzesstudent account receivable, tuition revenue, and financial aid on a monthlybasis for internal financial statements.
Reconciles and prepares monthly journal entriesrelated to student loan transactions.
Responsible for reviewing and processing student loanadvances and student loan refunds.Nursing and NFLP Loans.
Manages federal Direct Loan drawdowns andreconciliation of funds.
Responsible for preparing annual federal reports (FISAP andAOR) required for federal loanprograms.
Responsiblefor the timely preparation and completion of various year end schedules andwork papers pertaining to student accounts used by the independent auditors inconjunction with their examination of the university's financial statements.
Performsvarious regular and ad hoc projects, as assigned by the Director of StudentAccounts.
Completes otherduties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS:
Minimum qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in accounting from anaccredited institution.
Preferred qualifications:
Prior work experience in a highereducation student accounts office or related non-profit accounting environment.
Alternately, the successful candidate may possess any equivalent combination ofexperience and training, which provides the knowledge, skills and abilitiesrequired to perform the essential job functions. This includes, but is notlimited to, the following:
A working knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP),as it pertains to not for profits, specifically FAS 116 and FAS 117
A working knowledge of othergeneral accounting principles
Ability and knowledge ofgeneral accounting routines
Proficiency with MicrosoftOffice software
Exceptional verbal andwritten communication skills
Ability to perform multipletasks and meet deadlines
Ability toestablish and maintain effective working relationships with the UniversityCommunity.
