Job Title: Development Engineer 2
Duration: 2+ Years Contract

Overview:
Join the Large Power Systems Division (LPSD) - Large Engine Digital Insights group as a Development Engineer 2 , where you'll contribute to advancing the health monitoring of large diesel, gas, and dual-fuel engines. In this role, you will leverage your engineering knowledge and coding expertise to build, maintain, and improve analytical processes that assess engine health using large datasets.
This is an excellent opportunity for an analytical-minded engineer with a passion for data, coding, and engine technology to grow within a collaborative, technically driven environment.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Design, develop, and maintain computer processes and algorithms that monitor engine health data.
  • Execute and refine engine condition monitoring strategies using Python and SQL.
  • Analyze large data sets to support preventative maintenance, root cause analysis, and design validation.
  • Replicate and tailor monitoring algorithms for new engine models.
  • Collaborate with engineers across disciplines to investigate failures and recommend improvements.
  • Prepare and deliver technical documentation and reports.
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field (Master's or Ph.D. in Engineering, Analytics, or Computer Science is a plus).
  • 2-4 years of hands-on engineering experience (internships can count toward experience).
  • Proficient in Python and familiar with SQL (Python coding test may be required).
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and statistical thinking.
  • Excellent written and one-on-one verbal communication skills.
  • Team-oriented with strong attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with engines or mechanical systems.
  • Formal training in analytics or statistics.
  • Familiarity with engine maintenance, product health monitoring, or failure analysis.
  • Proven ability to improve and scale analytical processes.
Top Technical Skills:
  • Proficiency in Python programming and SQL.
  • Strong analytical and data interpretation skills.
  • Mechanical aptitude and understanding of engine components/systems.
