Caterpillar's Large Power Systems Division (LPSD) is seeking a Development Engineer to join the Large Engine Digital Insights Team in Mossville, IL. This team focuses on supporting large engines through engineering support and the creation of condition monitoring content.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Python or SQL , an engineering degree, and a passion for coding and data analysis . This role is focused on data-driven engineering support with no hands-on element and requires a highly analytical mindset with excellent communication skills.
The position requires onsite work at least three days a week, with the potential to increase to five days a week in the future.

Key Responsibilities:
- Perform extensive data analysis to support large engine condition monitoring.
- Develop and maintain Python or SQL-based tools to enhance data processing and insights.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to interpret data trends and optimize performance .
- Support engineering efforts by identifying patterns and anomalies in large data sets.
- Ensure clear and effective communication with engineering teams and stakeholders.
- Contribute to the development of condition monitoring content for large engines.
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Controls Engineering.
- 2-4 years of experience (internships can be included).
- Strong Python or SQL coding skills .
- Ability to work as part of a collaborative engineering team .
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills .
- Passion for coding and data analysis .
- Mechanical aptitude or experience with engines .
- Background in data science with an engineering focus .
- More than 8 years of experience (still considered).
- Local candidates (not required but preferred).
