FinOps Engineer

Job Description

Insight Global is looking for a FinOps Engineer in Houston, TX for one of our large oil and gas clients. Over the last year this customer has migrated to AWS so this Engineer will be assisting with the financial operations to help understand the usage of resources on the Cloud and trying to optimize that. This person will be collecting, analyzing and best interpreting the cloud usage with financial data to identify trends they are seeing. They will be responsible for designing, developing and maintaining dashboards and reports using PowerBI, QuickSight and other BI tools to communicate insights they discover to both the technical and non-technical stakeholders. In addition, they will be writing and optimizing SQL queries to extract and transform data from cloud billing systems, data warehouses and operational databases. They will also be responsible for building integrations between FinOps platforms and internal systems to streamline cost allocation, chargebacks and forecasting. Lastly, they will develop and maintain data pipelines and systems to support FinOps analytics and reporting and also be responsible for implementing the infrastructure as-code (IaC) and CI/CD pipelines to support FinOps tooling and governance. This position is looking to pay between $40-45/hr.

Skills and Requirements

2-5 years of experience as a FinOps Engineer

Experience with Cloud cost management tools (AWS Cost Explorer, Azure Cost Management)

Extensive experience with SQL and large datasets

Extensive experience with PowerBI, QuickSight and other BI tools

Understanding of DevOps, automation, and full-stack engineering principles

Experience with Python or other scripting languages that will be used for automation

Knowledge of data modeling, data warehousing and ETL processes

Experience with cloud platforms (AWS & Azure) Experience with Agile Methodologies null
