The Packaging Engineering Manager will be responsible for managing a team of Packaging Engineers, overseeing the implementation of new products, owning the change management process for existing SKUs, and acting as a key facilitator between our customers, internal R&D staff, and vendors. This role offers corporate-wide responsibility and reports directly to the Senior Director of Business Development.
Requirements
Team Management:
• Ability to work well with internal teams, including sales, developers, engineers, quality assurance, and operations. Ensure requirements are fully understood and that implementation plans match expectations.
• Manage and lead a team of Packaging Engineers, providing guidance, mentoring, and performance feedback.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure effective communication, coordination, and alignment of project goals.
• Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement within the team.
New Product Implementation:
• Oversee the successful implementation of new products, from concept development to commercialization.
• Develop project plans, timelines, and budgets, ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget.
• Coordinate with internal stakeholders, such as R&D, Manufacturing, Quality Assurance, and Marketing, to drive project execution and meet customer requirements.
• Identify and mitigate risks, anticipate challenges, and develop contingency plans.
• Assess and address technical risks.
• Serve as a product evangelist and subject matter expert to the technical/developer community.
• Define success criteria for testing and product acceptance.
Change Management:
• Own the change management process for existing SKUs, ensuring seamless transitions and minimal disruption to production and customer satisfaction.
• Collaborate with various departments, including Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and Regulatory Affairs, to assess and implement changes efficiently.
• Develop and maintain robust change management procedures and documentation.
• Facilitate the creation and maintenance of proper product documentation.
Customer and Vendor Relationship Management:
• Serve as a key point of contact and facilitator between the Company, customers, internal R&D staff, and vendors.
• Understand customer requirements, gather feedback, and communicate effectively to ensure customer satisfaction and project success.
• Develop and nurture strong relationships with vendors and suppliers, driving collaboration, cost optimization, and quality improvement initiatives.
• Uncover and understand customer needs and translate them into requirements.
Product Governance:
• Develop and maintain product governance frameworks, tools, and metrics to monitor and report on project progress, risks, and performance.
• Conduct regular product reviews and stakeholder meetings to ensure alignment and accountability.
• Provide regular updates and presentations to senior management on product status, key milestones, and strategic recommendations.
• Answer incoming questions about the product and its capabilities.
KEY SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field.
• Proven experience (5-10 years) in a similar role within a manufacturing or consumer products environment.
• Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire cross-functional teams.
• Excellent project management, development and execution of project plans, risk assessment, and resource allocation.
• Strong knowledge of packaging engineering principles and practices.
• Demonstrated experience in change management processes and techniques.
• Exceptional communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple projects simultaneously.
• Proficient in project management tools and software.
• Experience in the aerosol consumer products industry is preferred.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
This position will perform most job duties in an office environment where using a computer, software applications, etc. are essential.
