About the Role:
Tech7 is looking for a Senior. Space Systems Engineer to join our team. This position is in El Segundo, CA. This position is onsite and will not offer a remote or hybrid work option.
The Senior Space Systems Engineer will play a pivotal role in assisting the Government to oversee the design, development, and integration of advanced space systems that support national security and scientific exploration. This position requires a deep understanding of aerospace engineering principles and the ability to apply them to complex projects. The engineer will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure that all systems meet stringent performance and reliability standards. Additionally, the role involves conducting thorough analyses and simulations to validate system designs and performance metrics. Ultimately, the Senior Space Systems Engineer will contribute to the successful deployment of innovative space solutions that enhance operational capabilities.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide acquisitions and engineering expertise to the US Space Force's Evolved Strategic SATCOM (ESS) program and/or other SATCOM programs, providing strategic guidance and technical expertise.
  • Perform direct management of CAPS-R technical processes, program plans, cost, schedule, requirements, and risk assessments to ensure program success.
  • Efficiently monitor and evaluate program effectiveness, ensuring quality and on-time delivery while communicating program status to the PMO chain of command.
  • Collaborate with EPS-R PMO leadership, Aerospace, MSEIT, JHU/APL engineering staff, and other stakeholders to ensure flawless execution of the program and technical baseline within cost and schedule constraints.
  • Define program plans for the execution of critical design milestones in coordination with the PMO and development contractor.
  • Lead network architecture design teams to define ground connectivity with external and internal stakeholders.
  • Coordinate closely with the EPS-R Chief Engineer to define system architecture, intersegment integration testing, deployment, site activation, and user operation requirements.
  • Lead technical teams in successfully completing key milestones
  • Proactively identify and manage program risks while driving opportunities to achieve efficiencies and improve program outcomes.
  • Collaborate with prime and support contractors, government civilians, and other stakeholders to deliver a final integrated solution.
  • Oversee and execute test and evaluation (T&E) activities, including software item qualification tests, factory acceptance tests, hardware validation, and site acceptance tests.
  • Author and review test documents, plans, requirements, and data for Developmental and Operational Testing.
  • Manage system interfaces technical baselines, including classified and For Official Use Only (FOUO) Interface Control Documents (ICDs).
  • Develop and validate functional test plans, use cases/scripts, architecture diagrams, test schedules, and test reports for satellite payload components.
  • Plan and execute Developmental and Operational Testing for space and ground elements across multiple programs.
  • Provide expertise across additional EHF programs such as AEHF, to include ground terminals and control segment systems.
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field such as Engineering or Computer Science
  • Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills, including presentation abilities.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Expertise in communications engineering and systems lifecycle management.
  • 15+ years of Systems Engineering experience in the design, development, integration, and testing of satellite systems, ground operational control systems, and military user receivers.
  • 5+ years working with EPS-R CAPS ground control segment
  • 5+ years with requirements definition, installation, and integration of satellite ground control systems
  • 5+ years demonstrated experience in systems engineering
  • 5+ years working in a collaborative team environment developing technical baseline/systems specification, verification or analysis using engineering applications and simulation models
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in Engineering or related technical field
  • INCOSE Certified Systems Engineering Professional (CSEP) or Expert Systems Engineering Professional (ESEP)
  • Experience with MILSATCOM systems such as AEHF, EPS, and FAB-T terminal programs
  • Experience working with military or DoD civilian clients
  • Experience with ground and satellite systems, including terminals and networks
Security Clearance:
  • U.S. Citizenship and an active DoD SECRET Security Clearance are required. The program is nearing completion of a major milestone where clearance will be increased to TS/SCI. Candidates must be able to receive an elevated clearance at that time
Please note that the salary information shown below is a general guideline only. Salaries are commensurate with experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations. Annual Pay Transparency Range: $194,018 - $234,770
