Job Title: Advanced Manufacturing Technology (AMT) PLC Automation Engineer

Main Function:

n

This role will be responsible for the design, implementation, and support of automated systems used in manufacturing processes. This role plays a key role in improving production efficiency, reducing variability, and improving quality through automation. The automation engineer collaborates with cross-functional teams to deliver scalable solutions that align with the company's operational standards and goals.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Design and implement automation systems for manufacturing processes, including robotics, PLCs and HMIs.
  • n
  • Program and troubleshoot PLCs (e.g., Allen-Bradley, Siemens), SCADA systems, and industrial networking protocols.
  • n
  • Integrate sensors, actuators, and control systems for real-time production monitoring and control.
  • n
  • Perform a root cause analysis of system issues and develop corrective actions.
  • n
  • Collaborate with production, maintenance, and engineering teams to identify automation opportunities.
  • n
  • Ensure compliance with electrical and safety codes (e.g., NEC, NFPA 70E).
  • n
  • Maintain detailed documentation including wiring diagrams, logical flowcharts, and equipment manuals.
  • n
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on reducing downtime and increasing performance.
  • n
  • Perform FAT/SAT tests and lead the commissioning of automation systems.
  • n
  • Perform other tasks as assigned.

Education Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Automation Engineering or related field.
  • n

Experience Required

    n
  • 3 to 5 years of experience in the design and implementation of industrial automation systems.
  • n
  • Proficient in PLC programming, HMI development and industrial communication protocols.
  • n
  • Experience with robotics and vision systems will be an asset.
