SUMMARY
nThe Environmental Health & Safety Manager (EHS) is responsible for leading the development and execution of Environmental, Health, and Safety programs at Grillo’s Pickles Midwest facility. This role ensures compliance with all regulatory requirements, establishes and maintains a safe work environment by developing and enforcing policies, overseeing regulatory compliance, providing employee training, supports a strong food safety culture, and drives continuous improvement to protect our people, facility, and community. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader who can build strong cross-functional partnerships ensuring that EHS operations are efficient, effective and structured while ensuring compliance and employee engagement.
nnESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
nStrategic - Planning and Architecture

- Implement EHS plans, programs and training n
- Promotes and supports a strong safety culture within the facility n
- Evaluates and participates in planning process for continuous improvements to EHS, including security programs. n
Environmental, Health & Safety Management
n- n
- Develop and manage safety programs that align with OSHA standards. n
- Conduct safety audits, inspections, and job hazard analyses. n
- Brainstorms EHS & security improvement ideas with managers and supervisors including safety committee members. n
- Works in conjunction with plant leadership to develop safety guidelines for processing equipment. n
- Communicates with plant leadership regarding safety programs, policies, procedures, and general operational issues. Shares findings from gap analyses and solicit feedback on standard operating procedure development from appropriate department leaders. n
- Lead investigations of accidents, near misses, and develop corrective actions. n
- Maintain OSHA logs and prepare annual safety reports. n
- Promotes safety consciousness among employees by providing accurate and informative data, conducting monthly safety committee meetings, giving timely feedback and safety suggestions. n
- Conducts EHS & Security audits to ensure compliance with corporate and governmental requirements n
- Oversees health and safety incident reporting procedures to identify root cause and ensure the proper corrective recommendations have been generated to reduce or eliminate hazards. n
- Oversees monthly safety inspection process n
- Leads site safety committee n
- Evaluates EHS best practices and keeps current with industry trends and developments. n
- Oversee required environmental permits and reporting (e.g., Tier II, SPCC, air and water permits). n
- Partner with local agencies and vendors for inspections and compliance needs. n
- Oversees the development, coordination and implementation of comprehensive employee training programs for all EHS & Security required topics. n
- Oversees the coordination and implementation of OSHA-required annual training. n
- Delivers other select group, individual and “train the trainer” training. n
Security & Emergency Preparedness

- Oversee plant access control and visitor protocols, including truck traffic and vendor entry. n
- Maintain emergency response plans and lead training and drills (fire, ammonia release, severe weather, etc.). n
- Coordinate with HR and Facilities on workplace violence prevention and security initiatives. n
- Act as facility liaison with first responders and regulatory agencies during emergencies. n
- Partner with QA/Food Safety team to ensure EHS and security practices align with GFSI, SQF, or other food safety standards. n
- Assist in sanitation practices, and pest management from an EHS and security perspective. n
- Support cross-functional audits and participate in regulatory inspections. n
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS (EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE)

- Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Occupational Safety and Health, Safety Management or related field n
- At least 3 years of progressively responsible experience in a manufacturing environment with demonstrated results in EHS & Security role, n
- Knowledge of OSHA 29 CFR and EPA 40 CFR n
- Holds a safety certification from BCSP (STS, OHST, ASP, CSP) n
- Ability to think strategically and understand the “big picture” n

Physical Demands
nThe employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to climb, balance, taste, or smell. Must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 - 25 pounds, and occasionally more than 50 pounds with assistance from co-workers and/or mechanical devices. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
nnWORK ENVIRONMENT
nMust be able to work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to production equipment, wet and refrigerated areas, and food ingredients. Position requires use of PPE, and frequent walking, standing, and occasional lifting.
