Job Summary
This role offers the opportunity to be part of a dynamic, high-performing team managing complex offshore assets. You'll contribute directly to the safety, integrity, and performance of Murphy's deepwater operations while working in a collaborative and supportive environment.
The Facility Engineer will work in our Houston Corporate office and may work two (2) days a week remotely.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary onshore technical point of contact for assigned deepwater facility
- Provide day-to-day troubleshooting, surveillance, and technical support to offshore operations
- Monitor facility performance and identify opportunities to optimize production and reduce operating costs
- Support and lead facility modifications, debottlenecking efforts, and brownfield projects from concept through execution, including ownership of associated budgets and management of 3rd party engineering activities
- Collaborate with inspection, reliability, construction and maintenance teams to resolve equipment issues and ensure compliance with regulatory standards
- Assist maintenance teams with technical review of quotes for replacement equipment and parts
- Plan and schedule major facility maintenance and upgrade campaigns. Coordinate with both onshore and offshore staff during shutdowns, startups, and execution
- Support Management of Change (MoC), Safe Work Practices, and Process Safety processes
- Maintain accurate documentation of facility configurations, drawings, and technical records
- Willing to attend and be able to pass HUET (Helicopter Underwater Egress Training)
- Professional Engineer (PE) license, preferably
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Chemical, or other Engineering field
- Minimum 7 years' experience in oil and gas industry, with experience in deepwater production facilities
- Working knowledge of process equipment, piping systems, pumps, compression, power generation, and utility systems
- Understanding of MoC, HAZOP, and risk assessment processes
- Familiarity with applicable industry standards (API, ASME, ABS, etc.) and regulatory requirements (BSEE, USCG)
- Ability to travel offshore as needed (occasional trips)
- Strong problem-solving skills with a focus on safety and reliability
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills with a proactive mindset
