About The Position
This role will be responsible for leading the mechanical engineering efforts across a range of space flight systems, including our Lunar Lander, Lunar Terrain Vehicles, Payloads, and other advanced spacecraft platforms. The Sr. Mechanical Engineer will provide technical leadership throughout the hardware development lifecycle-from concept and design through analysis, integration, and test. The ideal candidate brings deep technical expertise and a proven track record in developing complex aerospace systems.

About The Position
This role will be responsible for leading the mechanical engineering efforts across a range of space flight systems, including our Lunar Lander, Lunar Terrain Vehicles, Payloads, and other advanced spacecraft platforms. The Sr. Mechanical Engineer will provide technical leadership throughout the hardware development lifecycle-from concept and design through analysis, integration, and test. The ideal candidate brings deep technical expertise and a proven track record in developing complex aerospace systems.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including systems engineering, electrical engineering, and manufacturing, to define design requirements and specifications
- Lead the design and development of mechanical components and systems for aerospace applications, including spacecraft, landers, robotic systems, and payloads
- Generate 3D models, detailed drawings, and technical documentation using CAD software (Ideally Creo CAD software)
- Perform structural analysis and simulation to evaluate the performance and integrity of mechanical designs under various operating conditions, including thermal, vibration, and load environments
- Optimize designs for weight, strength, and manufacturability while meeting project requirements and safety standards
- Create prototypes, R&D models, and test articles to validate design concepts and performance characteristics
- Plan and conduct mechanical tests and evaluations, analyze test data, and make recommendations for design improvements
- Work closely with test engineers and technicians to ensure testing objectives are met efficiently and accurately
- Prepare technical reports, design reviews, and presentations to communicate project status, findings, and recommendations to internal stakeholders and external partners
- Maintain accurate documentation of design changes, revisions, and design history throughout the product lifecycle.
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or related field
- 8+ years of experience in mechanical engineering, preferably in the aerospace or defense industry
- 7+ years of CAD software experience, preferably CREO
- Strong understanding of engineering principles, materials science, and manufacturing processes
- Knowledge of industry standards and regulations related to aerospace design (e.g., ASME, NASA standards)
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Strong communication and presentation skills.
