- General cleaning
- Dusting
- Dust mopping
- Wet mopping
- Stripping and waxing of hard surface floors
- Wet extraction of carpets and furnishings
- Complete restroom cleaning and care
- Test all plumbing and restroom fixtures once a month and report any issues and malfunctions
- Cleaning vent external covers
- Changing light bulbs, including overhead bulbs standing on a ladder
- Wash windows
- Trash removal (up to 50 lbs), clean up trash on grounds
- Changing HVAC filters in your building according to a set schedule
- Sweeping exterior entrance daily with a concrete push broom
- Mopping or running automatic scrubber on gym floor after breakfast and lunch
- Clean up after student and staff illness
- Clean up blood and bodily fluids
- Maintain security in the building
- Monitor Fire and Electrical safety throughout the facility
- Test Emergency and Exit lights monthly and report any malfunction
- Clean dirt and debris from doorway and threshold, monitor for debris and trash on grounds, and complete winter chemical application
- Set up special events
- Move furniture, boxes, and other miscellaneous items in the building
- Ability to complete minor maintenance and assembly of equipment and furniture
- Snow removal from the entrance of the building and adjoining sidewalks, using both a snowblower and shovel (report 1 hour early on Snow Days)
- Complete exterior work such as emptying waste receptacles, picking up trash, snow removal (including using a snow blower on walks), sweeping entrances, and cleaning flower beds
- Submit timely work orders for building needs that are outside of the scope and duties of the custodial position
- Perform light-duty maintenance, including:
- Painting
- Changing ballasts
- Changing vent covers
- Changing or repairing ceiling tiles
- Gluing cove base
- Changing uni-vent filters twice annually
- Thoroughly clean uni-vents each summer
- Replacing light lens covers
- Installing soap dispensers and bulletin boards
- Hanging pictures
- Minor maintenance and assembly of equipment and furniture
- Maintenance duties completed with small tools (pliers, screwdriver, wrench)
- Other light-duty maintenance as assigned
- Other duties as assigned by the Director of Facilities Services, Administrative Assistant to Facilities Services, and Building Principal(s)
- Constant bending, standing, stooping, walking, and lifting
- Continuous, repetitive motions, such as mopping and sweeping
- Up to 10 lbs exertion to push a broom
- Up to 50 lbs exertion to set and tear down lunch tables
- Up to 50 lbs lifting of boxes, cabinets, and furniture
EDUCATION
High School Diploma or Equivalent
EXPERIENCE
- Five years of experience in building maintenance and/or cleaning is preferred
- Cleaning procedures for offices, classrooms, restrooms, and other areas
- Basic knowledge of the use of hand tools and minor maintenance repairs
- Additional training in cleaning and maintenance operations is desirable
- Residence phone
- Valid Driver's License
- Must be available evenings, weekends, and holidays for emergencies
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and exert pushing force of the same
