The University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine, founded in 1946, is dedicated to training future veterinarians, providing services to animal owners and veterinarians, and conducting investigations to improve the health of animals as well as people. Minimum Qualifications
Position Summary
This position is grant funded. Continuation of employment, while probable, is not guaranteed.
This post-doctoral position will work in the Joyner lab to understand genotype-phenotype relationships of the relapsing malaria parasites, Plasmodium cynomolgi and Plasmodium vivax . The individual is expected to oversee the day-to-day management of projects, assist in analysis and interpretation of study data, preparation of grants and associated reports, and lastly, manuscripts for publication. The individual will also have an active role in training and mentoring undergraduate and graduate students in the laboratory.
Relevant/Preferred Education, Experience, Licensure, Certification in Position
  • Minimum Qualifications: PhD or equivalent and experience in related fields.
  • Preferred Qualifications: Experience with culture and isolation of malaria parasites, genetic manipulation of malaria parasites, next generation sequencing analysis of parasite genomes using long and short-read sequencing approaches, basic laboratory skills including PCR and cloning.
