The Center for Tropical and Emerging Global Diseases (CTEGD) at the University of Georgia is one of the largest international centers of research focused on diseases of poverty. Researchers and students work together on some of the most important causes of human suffering around the world, including malaria, schistosomiasis, African sleeping sickness, Chagas disease, cryptosporidiosis, toxoplasmosis, leishmaniasis, and filariasis.

Position Summary
The Kurup Lab at the University of Georgia's center for Tropical and emerging Global Diseases (CTEGD) is seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher to lead projects investigating immune responses to malaria. Our lab uses a combination of in vivo mouse models, ex vivo liver-stage infection systems, and cutting-edge imaging and transcriptomic approaches to understand the fundamental biology of host-pathogen interaction in malaria.
This position offers strong mentorship, opportunities for scientific visibility, and an environment that supports growth toward research independence. As part of UGA's vibrant immunology and parasitology community, the postdoctoral fellow will benefit from seminars, career development resources, and collaborative opportunities.
The successful applicant will design and execute experiments independently, contribute to manuscript preparation, and engage actively in the collaborative and interdisciplinary environment of CTEGD.
Relevant/Preferred Education, Experience, Licensure, Certification in Position
Applicants should hold a Ph.D. in Immunology, Microbiology, parasitology, or a related field at the time of appointment. We are particularly interested in candidates with a strong background in immunology and an interest in infectious disease biology. Prior experiences with innate immune signaling, tissue-residence of immune cells, or molecular interactions at the host-pathogen interface are highly desirable.
