Job Summary

n

POWER Engineers, Member of WSP is seeking a mid-level electrical engineer with experience in substation protection and control (P&C) and/or physical design. This position is in the Power Delivery Substation Department of our Phoenix, Arizona office.A hybrid and/or in-office work environment is preferred. However, a remote role may be considered and is dependent on the individual's level of experience and proven ability to work remotely.

Responsibilities

    n
  • n

    Perform and direct others in the detailed design of medium to extra-high-voltage utility substations

    n
  • n
  • n

    Perform detailed design of one-line diagrams, elementary and wiring diagrams, SCADA, communications, conduit and cable sizing/routing, substation physical layouts, selection of substation equipment, writing of substation equipment specifications, proposal development, construction cost estimates, and project scheduling

  • n

    Occasional travel will be required

Required Education/Experience

n

    Ability to function as a Mid Level Substation Design Engineer in our Phoenix, Arizona office

    n
  • n
  • n

    BSEE (BS Electrical Engineering) or BSEET (BS in Electrical Engineering Technology) degree, from an accredited university, preferably with a power option

  • n
  • n

    Experience in 15kV through 345kV substation design and IEEE/ANSI standards

    n
  • n
  • n

    Experience filling the role of substation design engineer for several projects occurring concurrently

    n
  • n
  • n

    2+ years of experience in utility substation design, as outlined above

    n
  • n
  • n

    Strong command of the English language with good written and oral communication skills in order to work effectively with internal team members and external client personnel

  • n
  • n

    Legally authorized to work permanently in the U.S. without the need for work sponsorship

    n
  • n
n

Desired Education/Experience

n
    n
  • n

    5+ or more years of experience in utility substation design, as outlined above

    n
  • n
  • n

    Experience in 345kV through 500kV substation design

    n
  • n
  • n

    Experience in managing small project teams.

    n
  • n
  • n

    Engineer In Training (EIT) registration

    n
  • n
  • n

    Managerial and leadership skills a plus

    n
