Position Overview

    n
  • The Project Engineer position is an entry level opening in the Eastern Division - Cincinatti, Ohio.
  • n
  • Project assignments are in the Midwest and require moderate to extensive overnight travel to project work sites in Ohio, Indiana, Kentucky, Tennessee, and West Virginia.
  • n
  • The work environment is on an active construction site from the professional facilities of Ben Hur's project field office.
  • n
  • The project engineer reports to project management and assists members of Ben Hur's site team.
  • n
  • Opportunities for career advancement are expected as the employee gains knowledge and experience.

  • A Project Engineer shall, as directed, support any or all of the aforementioned positions.

What You'll Do

    n
  • Be familiar with and ensure safety procedures, safety program requirements, and work rules are followed by onsite personnel. Document violations, notify project management and recommend/implement corrective actions as required.
  • n
  • Assist in the collection of costs, their proper allocation, and their proper operations.
  • n
  • Be the liaison with project inspectors.
  • n
  • Assist the superintendent in all aspects of the project, including the paperwork.
  • n
  • See that the erection plan is followed properly and that any changes are coordinated with the project manager.
  • n
  • Report all material shortages or discrepancies immediately.
  • n
  • Know where and what the project's survey control points are. See that the work is set to the proper elevation and alignment.
  • n
  • Be familiar with bolting, welding and other erection procedures and assist the foreman and journeyman in their understanding of them.
  • n
  • Be sure that all erection equipment is used in the proper fashion and at the proper time.
  • n
  • Check to see that all fabricator installed material is in place and correctly sized and located.
  • n

Qualifications

    n
  • Will have completed or be in the final year of an academic degree program in engineering, technology sciences, construction management or equivalent with emphasis on STEM.
  • n
  • Has the ability to work as part of a team with initiative-taker attributes to manage, complete, and meet expectations and responsibilities with minimal supervision.
  • n
  • Construction documents are the basis of the work. The ability to understand communicate with same is required as a function of the construction process.
  • n
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills, attention to accuracy, details, and project deadlines.
  • n
  • Expected technology utilization tools are laptop computers and tablets loaded with Microsoft Office, scheduling and drawing software.
  • n
  • The employee will be provided specific safety education and training as any entry level position.
  • n
