POSITION:
COOK ASSISTANT/ALL SITES
CLASSIFICATION:
Part-year, Hourly, Grade II-A, Full-time, Non-exempt
BASIC FUNCTION:
Assist in the implementation of the food service program by developing a working knowledge of food purchasing, kitchen safety, Ohio Department of Public Health Food Service Rules and Child and Adult Care Food Program guidelines, Performance Standards, and Agency policies and procedures.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Carry forth the Vision, Mission and Core Values of the agency.
  2. Prompt, punctual attendance is required.
  3. Prepare meals following the cycle menu following instruction on the production spreadsheets for breakfast, lunch and snack.
  4. Prepare meals and snacks accordingly, ensure food tastes good, looks appealing and ensuring accurate portions for age group.
  5. Discuss all menu changes that may be needed due to menu item not in stock with, Support Services Coordinator for approval.
  6. Cook or designee is required to post any daily menu changes on menu change posters to ensure teachers are aware of change.
  7. For children with diet restrictions, follow the child's plan of action to meet developmental, medical, and feeding needs of children with medical conditions or food allergies.
  8. Deliver all food to the classrooms ready to be served as family style meal service.
  9. Purchase food and supplies necessary to prepare the planned menus for the number of enrolled children.
  10. Report all equipment issues to Support Services Coordinator (SSC) whom will determine if service is needed.
  11. Ensure equipment is cleaned after use, items are placed neatly away, surfaces are cleaned and sanitized at the end of the day.
  12. Responsible to remove trash, sweep and mop kitchen floor daily.
  13. Maintain appropriate inventory to ensure sufficient amounts is available to prepare for the current weekly menu.
  14. Prepare food order and purchase order and submit to supervisor prior to order being placed. This includes orders for food, produce, milk, bread, and trips needed to grocery store.
  15. Complete and submit accurate food service reports, including cycle menus, purchase orders, food inventory worksheets, and hot food temperature monitoring log, etc.
  16. Notify SSC of equipment needs.
  17. As directed and trained by Cook, assist in needed food service clean up task.
  18. As directed and trained by Cook, assist in maintaining food inventory.
  19. When required, attend and participate in weekly staff meetings.
  20. Participate in all emergency drills held at the center.
  21. Communicate all necessary information to the appropriate staff.
  22. Attend all training required by the agency.
  23. Maintain confidentiality in all areas for the families and staff.
  24. Adhere to all agency and program policies.
  25. Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Work Experience Required: None.
2. Education and Training: High school diploma or GED
3. Special Conditions: Ability to lift 40 pounds, stoop, bend, and reach. A valid driver's license and a driving history acceptable to agency insurer. Involves extensive
organizing, problem solving, record keeping, and time management.
