Description
Perform preventative maintenance on agency fleet as needed, ensuring the availability of
vehicles in safe operating condition, and compliance with written documentation of repairs to
meet Arlington Transit Management's State/Federal/Local requirements.
Requirements
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent. Graduation from a related technical school preferred.
Experience:
  • Minimum three (3) years mechanical repair experience on automotive, medium, or heavy-duty equipment.
  • Automotive Service Excellence Certificates (ASE) in brakes, steering / suspension, and / or
    PMI preferred.
  • Able to maintain or obtain additional certification/licenses as required.
  • Must possess and maintain a Texas State Commercial Class (A or B) License or Permit with
    Passenger & Air Brake endorsement (for A & B licenses).
  • Drivers' history report from Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV), documenting driving record for past three to five years.
  • Five years' experience in the operation of a motor vehicle preferred.
  • No more than two traffic citations for moving violations during past three (3) years.
  • No Driving While Intoxicated (DWI/DUI) conviction within last three (3) years.
Other:
  • Must be at least 21 years of age, must pass a Department of Transportation (DOT) Physical
    (medical) examination, which includes an alcohol & drug screen. Per DOT/FTA standards
    Arlington Transit Management Safety Sensitive Employees are subject to random alcohol &
    drug testing as a condition of continued employment.
  • Possess complete knowledge of all tools and equipment in shop related to job classification.
  • Must maintain a basic set of personal hand tools to perform repairs related to job classification with exception of specialized tools provided by Arlington Transit Management.
  • A criminal background check will be completed and assessed by Arlington Transit
    Management on viable candidates.
  • Must be able to work variable shifts and irregular hours.
  • Must be able to communicate in the English Language both orally and written.
