Job Description
- Conduct first-piece inspections to ensure product quality right from the start
- Collaborate closely with machine operators to support production and address quality concerns in real time
- Drive the lean manufacturing program throughout the shop floor to enhance efficiency and eliminate waste
- Lead continuous improvement (CI) initiatives and promote process discipline across all departments
- Engage with team members daily to foster a culture of accountability, problem-solving, and shared success
- Perform detailed inspections using CMM machines and precision gauging tools, especially for new product development (NPD) parts
- Manage Returned Material Authorizations (RMAs) and ensure thorough corrective action (CA) and continuous improvement (CI) reporting
- Oversee and maintain quality documentation to meet internal standards and customer requirements
- Champion a major digital training initiative, helping the team transition to a modern, streamlined system for tracking training requirements
The Successful Applicant
- Experience working in a manufacturing environment, specifically with machinery in metal manufacturing
- Hands-on involvement with product inspection, not solely focused on process management
- Bonus: Experience with in-house calibration of measuring equipment such as calipers, micrometers, etc.
- Key focus on bringing calibration processes back in-house to improve control and efficiency
- Familiarity with ISO programs, particularly ISO 9001 certification, including running the program and conducting audits
- Strong process discipline and ability to collaborate effectively across different departments while ensuring adherence to procedures
- Skilled at engaging team members, overcoming obstacles, and fostering buy-in for quality initiatives
- Experience working with a diverse workforce, including managing language differences (e.g., Vietnamese, Spanish), maintaining accessibility and openness
- Degree is acceptable but not mandatory
- Potential to manage quality programs and grow into leadership roles depending on candidate's capabilities
- Ability to balance hands-on floor work with managing processes and procedures to drive continuous improvement
- Strong safety culture focused on keeping everyone safe on the job
