We are representing a well-established industrial equipment manufacturer that designs, builds, and services complex strip processing machinery used in demanding production environments. Their equipment supports high-volume operations in the steel tube and automotive industries across North America and select international markets. This is an excellent opportunity for a Field Service Engineer who enjoys hands-on work, technical variety, and frequent travel.
Location: Cuyahoga County
Compensation: $36 to $39 per hour, plus per diem for travel, a $700 monthly car allowance, and access to comprehensive benefits. The benefits package includes health insurance (traditional and HSA plans), dental, vision, and a 401(k) plan. Overtime is available.
Paid Time Off: 10 vacation days and 5 personal days, totaling 3 weeks of PTO annually.
What You'll Be Doing
As a Field Service Engineer, you will support customers in the field with installation, commissioning, preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of automated processing equipment. This equipment involves a combination of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems. You will also provide onsite training, coordinate with engineering teams when needed, and serve as a key point of communication with the customer.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform equipment installations, startups, and onsite operator training
- Troubleshoot and repair a wide range of system issues including PLCs, HMIs, relays, drives, mechanical components, hydraulics, and pneumatics
- Interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, blueprints, and machine specifications
- Deliver both scheduled and emergency field service with a focus on efficiency and professionalism
- Collaborate with in-house engineering to resolve complex problems
- Support field testing and machine adjustments to ensure optimal performance
- Share customer feedback and observations to inform product improvements and service strategy
- Proven experience servicing industrial equipment: mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems
- Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills
- Ability to read and interpret technical documents
- Clear communicator with a customer-first mindset
- Willingness to travel 60-75% across North America, plus some international trips
- Steel or tube processing experience a plus
- Hands-on fabrication skills (welding, cutting) helpful
- Associate degree in Applied Science (Electrical, Mechanical, or Technical Trades) preferred; equivalent experience considered
