JOB SUMMARY :
The Plant Engineer is responsible for the physical and mechanical maintenance of the facility, its equipment and grounds, and for the scheduling, completion of and evaluation (in cooperation with the building administrator) of all other maintenance/custodial tasks for the facility.

EVALUATION : Performance of this position will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of the Board's Policy on Evaluation of Classified Personnel.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand and talk or hear and sometimes walk and sit. Occasionally the employee will bend or twist at the neck more than the average person. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may occasionally push or lift up to 50 lbs such as boxes of books, and perform work in adverse weather conditions such as cold, snow, wind and rain. The employee is directly responsible for safety, well-being, or work output of other people. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision such as to read handwritten or typed material, and the ability to adjust focus.

JOB SUMMARY :
The Plant Engineer is responsible for the physical and mechanical maintenance of the facility, its equipment and grounds, and for the scheduling, completion of and evaluation (in cooperation with the building administrator) of all other maintenance/custodial tasks for the facility.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to work with administration and bargaining unit members.
- Satisfactory record of attendance and job performance.
- Satisfactory completion of contractual training requirements.
- Experience with basic grounds care.
- Experience with hand and power tools.
- Experience with painting.
- Educational training beyond high school.
- Three years supervisory experience.
- Three years custodial/maintenance experience.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
May include, but not limited to:
- Accountable for all facility maintenance and custodial tasks.
- Responsible for twenty-four (24) hour care and maintenance of the facility.
- Coordinate custodial tasks and event setups with custodial contractor managers.
- Responsible for the operation, general maintenance and repair of the following:
- HVAC system
- Lighting (indoor and outdoor)
- Plumbing
- Custodial equipment
- Grounds equipment
- Furniture
- Physical structure
- Miscellaneous
- Maintain designated areas of the grounds, including:
- Cutting/whipping/edging grass
- Weed control
- Trimming of trees and shrubs
- Removal of debris
- Snow removal
- Salt application
- Miscellaneous
- Perform custodial tasks:
- Daily cleaning of designated areas
- Setup and cleanup of lunch program
- Monitor restroom cleanliness
- Respond to random cleanups
- Miscellaneous
- Coordinate with District maintenance groups to assure the proper completion of tasks.
- Provide service for in-school activities and assists teachers and principals, when called upon.
- Make recommendations to the Facilities Manager for the purchase of supplies and equipment needed for the care and maintenance of the facility.
- Inspects and prepares the facility each day prior to the arrival of personnel and students.
- Meet with afternoon shift personnel each day upon their arrival, to assist in coordinating their work schedule.
- Maintain inventory and requisitions needed for maintenance/custodial supplies.
- Supervise and perform the unloading and distribution of all deliveries as directed.
- It is expected that a Plant Engineer will also actively participate in the actual cleaning and maintenance operation of the building, insofar as other priority obligations permit.
- Performs other tasks as directed by facility administrator/Facilities Manager.
