As a Mechanical Design Engineer with a focus on interior fit-out projects, you'll play a key role in designing HVAC and plumbing systems for some of the region's most recognizable commercial spaces. You'll work alongside a multidisciplinary team of engineers and project managers to deliver high-performance, code-compliant, and client-focused solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Design HVAC and plumbing systems for commercial interior fit-out projects, including office spaces, retail, and tenant renovations.
- Coordinate with electrical and fire protection disciplines to ensure integrated MEP solutions.
- Prepare construction documents, specifications, and equipment schedules.
- Conduct site surveys and field verifications to support design accuracy.
- Review shop drawings, submittals, and respond to RFIs during construction.
- Collaborate with clients, architects, and contractors to ensure timely and cost-effective project delivery.
- Ensure compliance with local codes, ASHRAE standards, and LEED guidelines where applicable.
- Support project management tasks including timelines, deliverables, and quality control.
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- 3-6 years of experience in MEP design, with a focus on commercial fit-out projects.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit; familiarity with energy modeling tools is a plus.
- Strong understanding of NYC/NJ building codes and permitting processes.
- Excellent communication and coordination skills.
- Experience working in a consulting engineering environment is preferred.
- EIT or PE license is a plus but not required.
- Salary Range: $100k - $140k, commensurate with experience.
