A nationally recognized engineering firm is expanding its team and hiring a Substation Civil-Structural Engineer in Lutz, FL . This direct hire position plays a key role in high-voltage transmission substation projects across the country. What you'll be doing:
- Lead and support structural design for substations from 44kV to 750kV, including foundations, steel structures, bus supports, and oil containment.
- Use industry tools including PLS-CADD, MFAD, Venture 3D, and Electrical CAD depending on project requirements.
- Create and review civil-structural drawing packages aligned with national codes and utility standards.
- Serve as a mentor to junior engineers and EITs while providing QA support for ongoing projects.
- Oversee project budgets and schedules, ensuring timely and high-quality delivery.
- Work closely with clients, project managers, and cross-functional teams to assess site needs and resolve field issues.
- Support business development, proposal writing, and cost estimating activities.
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited university.
- 5-7 years of experience in the electric utility industry (civil/structural focus).
- PE license preferred (or ability to obtain within one year); Level 3 engineers must hold or be pursuing PE licensure.
- Strong command of structural design concepts including drilled piers, spread footings, containment systems, and structural analysis.
- Experience in site permitting and field implementation of design drawings.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and a proactive, problem-solving mindset.
- Ability to manage engineering work independently and collaborate across disciplines.
- Competitive salary range from $85,000 to $160,000 depending on experience and credentials.
