The Maintenance Technician plays a critical role in supporting plant operations by ensuring the reliability, safety, and efficiency of mechanical, electrical, and facility systems. This role contributes to production uptime through expert troubleshooting, repair, and preventative maintenance across a wide range of equipment and infrastructure.
How you will make contributions that matter...
Equipment Maintenance & Repair:
- Diagnose malfunctions in machinery and equipment to identify root causes and corrective actions.
- Repair and rebuild plant equipment including pumps, motors, gearboxes, valves, and related systems.
- Perform preventative maintenance (PM) to ensure optimal equipment performance and longevity.
- Operate forklifts and aerial platforms to support maintenance tasks.
- Repair and replace hydraulic and pneumatic systems, including flow control components.
- Troubleshoot and repair electrical systems including fuses, relays, transformers, wiring, and instrumentation (RTDs, sensors, chart recorders).
- Understand and troubleshoot Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), including inputs, outputs, and nomenclature.
- Use CMMS to manage work orders, PMs, inventory lookup, and parts ordering.
- Fabrication & Machining:
- Weld various metals using wire feed, stick, or TIG methods.
- Machine materials using mills and lathes; saw metals using chop or band saws.
- Weld and polish stainless steel to meet 3A standards for the dairy industry.
- Perform drilling, grinding, filing, and cutting using hand and power tools.
- Maintain and repair HVAC systems, plumbing fixtures, and door systems (fire, overhead, roll-up, and man doors).
- Operate and troubleshoot ammonia refrigeration systems; repair/replace ammonia equipment as needed.
- Conduct boiler water tests and maintain steam system components including valves, traps, and return pumps.
- Work with co-workers and supervisors to resolve maintenance issues efficiently.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area and tools.
- Support weekend and holiday operations as needed.
- Alignment with Saputo's values and culture.
- Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating instructions, and maintenance manuals.
- Strong math skills including fractions, decimals, and unit conversions.
- Ability to work in extreme cold, heat, and outdoor conditions.
- Physical capability to lift up to 50 lbs. independently and move up to 100 lbs. with assistance.
- Willingness to complete at least one job-related course per semester.
- Ability to stand, walk, and climb stairs/ladders for extended periods.
- Proficiency in reading and writing English.
- High-level welding, electrical, or mechanical skills are a plus.

Our 2nd shift hours are from 12:00PM to 10:00PM
Salary Range: $30.15 to $34.91
Salary offers will vary commensurate with experience, education, skills and training .
