nTo perform basic manual tasks in order to maintain the cleanliness, sanitary conditions, and appearance of state buildings, facilities, institutions, etc.

nJob Duties and Other Information
nEXAMPLES BELOW ARE A BRIEF SAMPLE OF COMMON DUTIES ASSOCIATED WITH THIS JOB TITLE. NOT ALL POSSIBLE TASKS ARE INCLUDED.
nCleans bathrooms, offices, hallways, and any other assigned areas by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, and polishing.
nEmpties and decontaminates trash containers; may assist in disposing of infectious waste.
nMoves, rearranges, and dusts furniture and fixtures.
nLearns to mix or blend cleaning solutions to proper concentrations as necessary for various tasks.
nAssists in setting up tables, chairs, and other furniture for special meetings, banquets, or other occasions.
nWashes blinds, windows, and walls with prescribed solutions.
nOperates vacuum for cleaning carpeted areas.
nStrips, decontaminates, and makes beds for patients, residents, students, etc.
nReports needs for minor building and/or equipment repairs to a higher-level custodian.
nWashes, dries, folds, and issues clothing, linens, etc. as assigned.
nMay perform basic grounds work by picking up trash, watering plants, etc.
