Work Schedule: 5-20 hours per week; shifts based on operational need of the organization. MUST be available to work fall, winter, spring, and summer semesters, some nights and weekends. MUST have an expected graduation date of Fall 2026 or later preferred. This position will work primarily on campus with the potential of performing some work hours remotely.

ASI is considered a part of the Cal Poly Pomona Division of Student Affairs with a dashed reporting line to Administrative Affairs. ASI serves the entire campus population, including over 27,000 students, by providing opportunities for student engagement, student employment, and a multitude of programs and services such as recreation and wellness, student union and activities, student government, and childcare. ASI operational support areas include human resources, financial services, information technology, facilities management, and marketing. ASI is engaged in the work of being a learning organization. Currently, the guiding ideas of the organization are "under construction" as the team re-imagines its vision, mission, and core values. POSITION DEFINITION
Under general supervision from the Communications Manager , the Social Media and Marketing Assistant performsroutine and non-routine tasks in support of Associated Students, Incorporated's (ASI's) dynamic communications and marketing team. The Social Media and Marketing Assistant must demonstrate a genuine passion for social media. They must have excellent time management and communication skills and keep abreast of new software, trends, and innovations in the industry.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
EMPLOYMENT ELIGIBILITY
Employment with ASI is open to any Cal Poly Pomona student who is eligible to work and has the legal right to work in the United States. In addition, student employees must be currently enrolled in a minimum of 6.0 units (undergraduate) and 4.0 units (graduate), international student employees must be enrolled in a minimum of 12.0 units (undergraduate) and 6.0 units (graduate) at the end of the add-drop period. Student employees are required to have a minimum overall and Cal Poly Pomona GPA of 2.0 and be in good academic standing with the University. Individuals enrolled only in Extended University are not eligible for hire. Exceptions to the unit load requirement are allowed during the summer term and for students who have applied for graduation for the current term.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, talk and hear; manual dexterity, eye-hand coordination, and verbal communication; use of office equipment: telephones, calculator, copier and fax. Must be able to walk, stand, bend and lift to 45 pounds
Position subject to an occupational exposure to bloodborne pathogens. Annual bloodborne pathogen training is required. The initial training must be completed before the employee is assigned duties that may result in exposure to blood or bodily fluids. Hepatitis B vaccination will be offered after the training.
MANDATED REPORTING REQUIREMENT
In compliance with the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act (CANRA) and the CSU Executive Order 1083, each ASI employee is designated as a mandated reporter and is required to sign an Acknowledgment of Mandated Reporter Status and Legal Duty to Report Child Abuse and Neglect.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Creates dynamic written, graphic, and video content for social media.
- Film, edit, and caption videos for social media including Instagram Reels, IGTVs, TikToks, etc.
- Create accessible content for various digital platforms.
- Conduct research, brainstorm, and create social media campaigns.
- Use analytics tools to gauge the success of campaigns.
- Prepare reports on campaigns based on analytics.
- Create content that promotes audience interaction, increase audience presence on ASI websites, and encourage audience participation.
- Read, proof and edit to detect errors/style discrepancies in social media, flyers, brochures, external client projects and other publications
- Write and edit copy for the following: social media sites, The Campus Crop, ASI Portal, internal and external communications, websites, newsletters, campaigns, press releases, flyers, brochures, articles, annual reports, external client projects and other publications
- Employ marketing analytics techniques to gather important data (social media, web analytics, rankings, etc.)
- Attend in-person/on-campus and virtual events and provides live social media coverage.
- Upholds and maintains ASI writing style guidelines.
- Perform fact-checking duties
- Formulate and write articles for various print and digital media.
- Contribute social media ideas and conducts interviews for social media videos
- Is comfortable in front of the camera and voice recording for social media videos
- Assist in compiling local media coverage report and media clips
- Assist in the development and administration of campaign strategies
- Provide administrative support
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Experience in promotions, marketing, and/or public relations, preferred
- Must be able to edit videos for social media using Instagram, TikTok, CapCut, or other editing software
- Experience using Canva, Adobe Spark, or other graphic design software preferred
- Experience with AP Style writing, preferred
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok
- Experience using Google Analytics a plus
- Self-motivated with strong organization and critical thinking skills
- Demonstrated creative ability
- Ability to operate a computer workstation using word processing, spreadsheet and other computer applications in use
- Desire to learn about marketing, advertising and social media
