nAbout the Role:
nWe are seeking a highly experienced Principal Automation Engineer with a strong background in designing robust test automation frameworks . This is a strategic role where you will lead the design and development of scalable, maintainable, and high-performing automation solutions across web, mobile, and API platforms. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to elevate our testing capabilities and drive continuous quality across the software development lifecycle.
nKey Responsibilities:
nLead the design, development, and maintenance of scalable automation frameworks from the ground up for web, mobile, API, and backend services.
nEvaluate and recommend tools, libraries, and technologies to support quality engineering goals.
nCollaborate with developers, QA engineers, DevOps, and product managers to integrate automated testing into CI/CD pipelines.
nMentor and guide automation engineers on automation best practices, code quality, and design patterns.
nMentor and guide quality engineering teams on framework adoption, script development, and best practices.
nDefine standards for coding, documentation, and framework extensibility.
nMonitor framework performance and continuously optimize for scalability and maintainability.
nParticipate in code reviews and ensure high standards of test reliability and efficiency.
nPartner with DevSecOps to embed security testing into automation frameworks.
nRequired Qualifications
n10+ years of experience in software test automation with at least 4 years in a lead or principal role.
nProven experience in framework design and architecture for at least two major automation platforms (e.g., Selenium, Playwright, Appium, Cypress, REST Assured).
nStrong programming skills in Java, Python, JavaScript or similar languages.
nDeep knowledge of testing methodologies (unit, integration, system, acceptance, performance).
nExperience with test execution tools, CI/CD systems (e.g., Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps), and test reporting dashboards.
nHands-on experience with BDD/TDD and tools like Cucumber or SpecFlow. Preferred Qualifications:
nExposure to GenAI tools or intelligent test automation platforms.
nExperience in performance and security test automation.
nKnowledge of service virtualization and test data management.
nContributions to open-source automation projects.

nOur Principal Automation Engineer, earns between $158,200.00-$237,400.00 USD Annual total comp estimate, Not to mention all the other amazing rewards that working at AT&T offers. Individual starting salary within this range may depend on geography, experience, expertise, and education/training.
