Surgery - Thoracic Physician Assistant

We're looking for an experienced Physician Assistant (PA) or Nurse Practitioner (NP) to join our Cardiothoracic Surgery team for an ongoing, call-only opportunity, starting as soon as possible. This is a vital role supporting a busy CT surgeon in both daily and weekend responsibilities.

• Specialty: Cardiothoracic Surgery
• Coverage Type: Call Only
• Schedule:
• Daily: 6:00 AM - 6:00 PM (end time may vary).
• Weekends: 1:3 weekend coverage, including daily rounding with the surgeon.
• Call & Rounding:
• The CT surgeon takes all first calls on nights and weekends.
• During the day, you'll field pages regarding patient care.
• On Saturdays and Sundays, after rounds, orders, and notes are completed, you can leave the hospital (in-house call is not required). However, you could be called back in for emergencies or to assist with additional patients.
• Hospital Beds: Our facility has 15 beds.
• EMR System: We utilize Epic for our electronic medical records.

• Rounding: Daily rounding with the surgeon.
• First Assist: First assisting in the Operating Room as needed.
• Vein Harvesting: Vein harvesting when required.
• Procedures: Performing procedures if you have the skillset, including:
• A-line placement
• Central line placement
• Thoracentesis
• Chest tube placement
• Consults: Seeing new consults as needed.
