Work is performed under the supervision of Emergency Vehicle Technician Supervisor. This position does not supervise. Duties and ResponsibilitiesPerforms preventive maintenance and repairs on specialized fire apparatus, ambulances, forklifts, trailers, and support equipment. Services systems such as diesel engines, automatic transmissions, fire pumps, aerial devices, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, air and hydraulic brakes, air conditioning, steering, and suspensions. Performs any routine preventative maintenance work such as changing oils, lubrications and inspections. Uses any other equipment such as a hoist jack, overhead crane.Interprets and applies information from technical manuals, web sites, system flows to diagnose and resolve issues. Drives vehicles and performs quality control checks when required.Prepares and maintains accurate records of work performed and parts used on a fleet maintenance computer system. Maintains established safety standards; ensures a clean and organized work environment.Attends department meetings, OEM trainings, vendor trainings, and unit predelivery inspections.Performs all other duties and tasks as assigned.Working ConditionsWork schedule may include shift work and on-call status as required, including weekends and holidays.Often works under the following conditions: exposure to extreme physical, ergonomic, or hazardous environment.All duties and responsibilities listed are subject to change.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSEducation: 6 months post High SchoolExperience: 4 years directly related experience Any combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.
