Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Process Engineer - Licensed PE to join our dynamic team at thyssenkrupp nucera USA. This candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and optimizing processes related to green hydrogen and chlor-alkali production. This role offers the opportunity to work on cutting-edge projects and contribute to the advancement of sustainable energy solutions.
Key Responsibilities: n
- n
- The Process Engineer provides subject matter expertise within the process engineering team, focusing on electrolysis systems for green hydrogen (AWE), chlor-alkali, and HCl electrolysis. n
- Support & review the production of deliverables to fulfill project needs, either individually or as part of a team, depending on project size and scope. n
- Develops the process deliverables, including Basis of Design, Flow diagrams (PFDs), piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), heat and mass balances, material selection diagrams, equipment lists, consumer lists, process control strategies, utility consumption lists, process data for equipment, fluid lists, line lists, and operation manuals. n
- Coordinates and supports design activities between disciplines to ensure a comprehensive and integrated design package. n
- Acts as the technical contact for client, design team, third-party, and vendor communication related to Process Design. n
- Participates in model, design, maintenance, and operability reviews. n
- Ensures strict compliance with specifications and codes for North American installations. n
- Reviews and provides expert comments on vendor packages developed by third-party suppliers. n
- Manages third-party supplier interfaces as required, including checking drawings, specifications, and calculations, and providing technical input into vendor review and selection processes. n
- Provides site support for commissioning and start-up activities. n
Required Skills/Abilities: n
- n
- Experience with process simulation tools (Aspen Plus, HYSYS, or similar) and object-based engineering tools like COMOS & AutoCAD design tools n
- Ability to work in a cross-functional team and communicate complex technical concepts effectively. n
- Familiarity with process safety management (PSM), HAZOP, and risk assessment. n
- Knowledge of thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, heat transfer, and mass transfer. n
- Comprehensive knowledge of chemical processes including static equipment and piping systems (: electrolysis technology) n
- Proficiency in using Microsoft Office software. n
- Ability to travel as required (10-20%) n
- Proficient in communicating within the project team and working with team members across all disciplines to produce a comprehensive engineering package. n
- Self-starter with the ability to complete project deliverables with minimal supervision. n
Qualifications/Education: n
- n
- Must be a licensed PE (Professional Engineer) n
- Bachelors or Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field n
- 5+ years of experience in process engineering within electrolysis, chemical, or energy industries n
Physical Requirements: n
- n
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. n
- Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times. n
- Must be able to visit plant sites on special occasions n
