About the role: As part of the Arden Hills Process Development team, this position's primary responsibilities include leading a team of designers and contract designers executing on needs across all Boston Scientific, both divisionally and across all manufacturing sites. This position will oversee designs and delegate design work amongst the design groups. This position will be responsible for the integrity of the designs and making sure customers' needs are met, which include timing and accuracy. This position will provide strategic input into departmental, divisional, and Boston Scientific plant network initiatives. This position will be tasked with building and developing a focused team capable of fulfilling the design needs of multiple projects and multiple customer needs across Boston Scientific. This role will focus on building effective partnerships across the organization including internal and external fabrication sources. At Boston Scientific, we value collaboration and synergy. This role follows a fully-onsite work model requiring employees to be in our local office five (5) days per week. Relocation assistance is not available for this position at this time. Your responsibilities will include: Lead teams in the achievement of organizational and functional goals; guide, coach, direct, and develop direct reports Establish goals and development needs to help guide the design group going forward Set up systems to make the group efficient and create value for the customers that use the services of the tech center Be the liaison for SolidWorks for the tech center and troubleshoot any issues that arise Assist in making design groups focused and establishing prowess in the design area Partner with divisions to provide technical solutions to product needs Collaborate with R&D and manufacturing teams to create innovative and manufacturable product designs Recruit, coach, and develop organizational talent Create an inclusive, high-performing, entrepreneurial environment Build strategic partnerships and effectively collaborate cross-functionally to advance departmental and organizational objectives Required qualifications: Bachelor's degree in engineering, mechanical design, or closely related discipline, and 5+ years of professional work experience relevant to this role 2+ years of relevant professional experience leading and developing design projects or design groups High level of proficiency in SolidWorks Preferred qualifications: Team-oriented approach to projects that drives collaboration & execution in the tech center Track record of developing strong partnerships with multiple customers simultaneously Demonstrated competency in leading teams in the development of complex technical solutions from concept to commercialization Fixturing and tooling background Track record of developing partnerships outside of Boston Scientific to gain knowledge and improve capabilities internally Experience working in manufacturing, identifying opportunities, and delivering on commitments Track record of designing and developing creative solutions to complex problems Effective in building and leading high-performance teams
