POSITION PURPOSE:

Manage, lead, and direct the Facilities Department to provide “best in industry” support to the El Pollo Loco Company operated restaurants in terms of service, responsiveness, and quality, while operating within the departmental budgets. This position establishes the strategic direction and defines the annual goals and objectives for the Facilities Department.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Manage the Facilities team, including supervising Regional Facilities Managers and Facilities admin support staff. Accountable for the management of Facilities Department operating budget, the facilities capital budget, facility improvement, cost reduction initiatives, and the restaurant R&M budget. Demonstrated track record of building high-performance teams and outstanding relationships with internal and external customers. Accountable for the overall condition of company-owned restaurants Design, develop and document work systems and processes that ensure maximum productivity and effectiveness of the restaurant level support and the department. Drive innovation through the development of departmental best practices, operational and service efficiency as well as the identification of industry trends and tools that would contribute to operational excellence. Partner with Operations and other cross-functional departments as needed to ensure the highest possible standards for maintenance and operations of all company operated restaurants. Responsible for all project management relating to capital projects, special projects, and restaurant remodel work. Manage third-party vendor/supplier relationships including sourcing, recommending, selecting, and negotiating contracts on behalf of EPL. Conduct periodic third-party vendor/supplier contract reviews of EPL facilities and services and align with company operating margins and profitability standards and objectives. Analyze data to identify trends and opportunities, develop innovative and cost-effective solutions. As needed, support the Asset Management function with the management of all company owned properties and closed non-operating restaurants, ensuring that each property meets community and landlord standards. Must be willing and able to travel locally within Southern California and to out-of-state restaurant locations, as needed, by car or airplane. Other activities, duties or responsibilities that are assigned by your supervisor or may arise from time to time.

QUALIFICATIONS – EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, LICENSE/CERTIFICATIONS:

The requirements listed below are representative of the education and/or experience required.

Education:

Minimum bachelor’s degree and/or 6-8 years of experience with facilities or construction management. Two plus years of supervisory experience or experience in a leadership role overseeing and managing the performance of first line supervisors/managers and/or individual contributors.

License/Certifications:

Possess and maintain a valid driver’s license.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Experience with successfully recruiting, building, and developing a team (based on current and future needs. Extensive knowledge in all areas of facilities repair and maintenance for the restaurant, and/or retail industry with specific knowledge of food service equipment, refrigeration, and HVAC. Solid experience with budget and project management. Demonstrated ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to negotiate vendor and supplier contracts. Ability to read, write, and interpret complex reports, documents, and correspondence. Ability to effectively communicate with internal and external business partners. Ability to prioritize and plan work assignments and work under pressure of frequent and tight deadlines. High level of proficiency with technology including Microsoft Office Suite applications, customized database applications, and internet research tools. Corrigo experience, a plus. Adept at managing and prioritizing competing time sensitive requests while working well in a team atmosphere that may be under pressure. Ability to exercise independent judgment on matters of significance to the company. Ability to work weekends and extended work schedules as needed. Must be willing and able to travel locally within Southern California and to out-of-state restaurant locations, as needed by car or airplane. Ability to work at the Support Center consistent with the hybrid work policy.

The pay range identified is the hourly or salary rate El Pollo Loco expects to pay for the posted position. This range does not include any benefits or bonus opportunities that might be available for the position based on position and eligibility criteria. Individual pay will vary based on a variety of factors including years of experience, industry experience, education, geography, etc.Seniority level
