Under the general direction of the Staff Services Manager II (SSM II), the Staff Services Manager I (SSM I) is responsible to manage information gathering, analysis, and recommendations on partnership development, program management, and service of registered apprenticeship programs. Provides high-level workforce expertise and technical assistance to a team supporting workforce apprenticeship initiatives. Identifies best practices and lessons learned in partnership development and management at the state, regional, and local levels to increase equitable access for registered apprenticeship programs in California.
The incumbent is responsible for the supervision and oversight of apprenticeship partnership and program management activities by building collaborative relationships with state, regional, employers, local education agencies, community-based organizations, local agencies, and other workforce partners. The incumbent will oversee apprenticeship activities not limited to the following sectors: Advanced Manufacturing, Agriculture, Arts/Media/Entertainment, Barber & Cosmetology, Business Services, Education, Healthcare, IT, Public Sector, and Transportation (potential for expansion).
The incumbent must work in a professional manner and establish cooperative working relationships with others. Confidentiality must be always maintained.

The incumbent works 40 hours per week in an office setting with artificial light and temperature control Monday through Friday. Air-conditioned, high-rise building with elevator access, cubicle with natural and artificial lighting. Indoor cubicle office environment for several hours a day. Being in a stationary position for long periods of time. The incumbent is required to work extensively on the computer, as necessary, for email communication, research, drafting performance management documents, evaluations, annual reviews, and other administrative duties. Telework may apply.
