Competitive salary and benefits package Summary: Virginia Transformer is seeking an experienced

AVP of Planning – Supply Chain

to lead our strategic supply planning function. This role is critical to ensuring the availability and flow of highly specialized materials required in transformer manufacturing one of a kind BOM, which involves long lead times, global suppliers, and precise coordination. The AVP will oversee planning for all plants’ materials and work closely with procurement, engineering, production to anticipate demand, mitigate supply risks, and optimize inventory levels. This position will play a pivotal role in increasing visibility, efficiency, and resilience across our supply chain network. Key Responsibilities: Lead and optimize the end-to-end supply planning process across all U.S. and international manufacturing facilities. Develop mid- and long-range material and capacity planning strategies aligned with customer demand, production schedules, and financial targets. Collaborate with procurement and engineering to address supplier constraints, forecast material needs, and ensure availability of long-lead and critical-path components (e.g., copper, steel, insulation, bushings, cores). Build planning models that reflect the complexity of transformer production, including custom orders, engineering change notices, and make-to-order timelines. Participate in Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) processes, ensuring alignment across production, sales, and finance. Establish clear KPIs to monitor inventory turns, material availability, lead times, and forecast accuracy. Drive continuous improvement through demand forecasting tools, digital planning platforms, and predictive analytics. Evaluate and plan for risks in the supply chain, particularly around global sourcing and geopolitical disruptions. Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of planners and analysts across multiple locations. Serve as a strategic advisor to the VP of Supply Chain and work cross-functionally with manufacturing, logistics, and project teams. Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain, Operations Management, Engineering, or related field; MBA or APICS/CSCP certification . 15+ years of progressive experience in supply chain or planning roles, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership capacity. Strong background in complex manufacturing environments, preferably with custom-engineered products such as transformers, electrical equipment, or capital goods. Expertise in material planning, inventory optimization, and ERP/MRP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, or similar). Demonstrated success in leading cross-functional teams and improving end-to-end supply chain visibility and performance. Strategic thinker with strong analytical skills, financial acumen, and the ability to influence at all levels of the organization.
