Recent major research highlights and accolades Responsibilities:

Engineer evolution toward a more optimal basic, translational, clinical, and community-based research environment. Assist in developing the Child Health Research Center (CHRC) as a leading research center. Collaborate with the CHRC Director and Chair to update research strategic plans, develop focused research areas, and organize Research Day. Foster development of young investigators by establishing a departmental K-club or encouraging participation in institutional K-clubs. Encourage participation in K- and R-grant writing workshops to optimize funding success. Ensure all K and initial R grants undergo departmental review to enhance success chances. Develop pilot funding proposals with the Chair to support promising young investigators. Provide support and training services for researchers at all levels, including grant management and lab operations. Support faculty in grant applications through review and scoring assistance. Create a plan for bridge funding in collaboration with the Chair. Keep the research community informed about grant opportunities. Ensure access to core resources like CRCs and biostatistics support, with fair distribution and competency assessment. Work with the Chair on strategic research hires, especially for centers of excellence and NIH funding. Annually, the Chair and Vice Chair will agree on 2-4 metrics for incentive compensation, aligned with the Department’s annual review and the Dean’s Office. The position offers eligibility for clinical and academic incentive plans.
