We’re seeking a driven and dynamic Sous Chef to join our leadership team and help guide our culinary program as we continue to grow.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the Executive Chef in leading daily kitchen operations and executing the culinary vision of California English

  • Manage and mentor line cooks , prep cooks, and stewards — leading by example with professionalism and care

  • Oversee kitchen prep and production , ensuring quality, consistency, and timeliness of all menu items

  • Collaborate on menu development and seasonal specials, bringing creativity and curiosity to the process

  • Ensure kitchen cleanliness, safety, and organization , maintaining compliance with all health and safety regulations

  • Monitor inventory and ordering , assist in food cost control and minimize waste

  • Maintain high standards for plating and presentation , ensuring every dish reflects our whimsical-yet-refined identity

  • Step into leadership in the Chef’s absence , acting as the point of contact and maintaining smooth service

  • Uphold a positive, inclusive kitchen culture that celebrates diversity, learning, and mutual respect

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in high-end restaurant kitchens

  • At least 3 years in a leadership role (Sous Chef or higher)

  • Strong people management skills — you inspire, train, and hold your team accountable

  • A proactive, self-starting attitude — you don’t wait to be told, you step up

  • Eager to learn and grow within a supportive and evolving organization

  • Passion for flavor, creativity, and helping refine a unique culinary identity
