Description The Multi Domain Solutions Division at Leidos is seeking a talented

Lead Network Engineer

to join our dynamic team. You will play a crucial role in supporting a fast-paced program with the Air Force Life Cycle Management Center by deploying and managing a sophisticated network across multiple customer sites and the cloud. Your expertise will be essential in designing, procuring, and installing network systems compliant with Department of Defense (DoD) specifications. In this position, you will develop network architectures, work closely with procurement teams to source hardware and software, and oversee the comprehensive installation and configuration of network devices such as TACLANEs, routers, switches, and firewalls. You will also conduct rigorous testing to ensure functionality and security compliance while maintaining precise documentation and providing expert technical support to team members and end-users. This role also involves managing and configuring COMSEC equipment, contributing to the 24x7 monitoring of customer networks at our operations center. *Please note that this position will require the capability to work a rotating shift.* Primary Responsibilities: Guide the creation of detailed network designs that align with Department of Defense (DoD) standards. Collaborate with procurement teams to identify and acquire necessary hardware and software for projects. Oversee the installation and configuration of essential networking equipment, including routers, switches, firewalls, and servers. Conduct thorough testing of network systems to verify performance, functionality, and security compliance. Troubleshoot and resolve challenges encountered during installation and testing phases. Maintain accurate and detailed documentation of network configurations, installations, and modifications. Develop and update network diagrams and other vital technical documents. Work closely with engineers, project managers, and stakeholders to ensure the successful delivery of projects. Maintain an accurate inventory of COMSEC materials, including keying gear and cryptographic keys, ensuring adherence to security protocols. Take the lead in the installation, operation, and maintenance of COMSEC equipment and software. Provide expert technical support and guidance to team members and end-users. Stay current with DoD policies and best practices related to network security and design. Implement robust security measures to safeguard network infrastructure and data. Basic Qualifications: Must be a U.S. Citizen with at least a Top Secret Clearance and the ability to obtain an SCI prior to starting. Bachelor's degree with 8+ years of experience or a Master's degree with 6+ years of experience; additional experience may substitute for a degree. In-depth knowledge of protocols, security standards, and design principles for OSI Layers 1-4. Extensive experience with the installation and configuration of physical networking equipment and Local Area Networks (LANs). Proven experience in designing and deploying Wide Area Networks (WANs) utilizing Virtual Private Networking (VPN) technologies. Experience with cloud networking technologies, particularly Microsoft Azure (vNETs, VPN Gateway, Virtual WAN, Express Routes, Azure Firewall). Experience managing and configuring COMSEC devices. Proficient in interpreting and utilizing network management and troubleshooting tools such as ICMP, SNMPv3, and Syslog. Relevant certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, CCIE, or other DoD 8140 compliance certifications (e.g., JNCIA, PCNSA, AZ-700, CISSP). Exceptional problem-solving and analytical skills. Preferred Qualifications: Experience working with DoD networks, particularly in classified and operational environments. Familiarity with the use and management of cryptographic devices for secure VPN networking. Experience configuring various VPN technologies including Juniper Secure Connect, Azure VPN Gateway, MPLS, and IPsec VPN. Proficient in remotely managing networks through Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and Configuration as Code (CaC). Current certification from the NSA COMSEC Manager Course. Experience in network performance monitoring and optimization. A strong grasp of cybersecurity practices and risk management, especially at OSI layers 1-3. Prior experience in a leadership or mentoring capacity within a technical team. Awareness of emerging technologies and trends in network infrastructure. Original Posting:
