The Controls Engineer II is responsible for the development, testing, sourcing, and implementation of controls components for appliance platforms. The position requires a strong understanding of our internal and external customer needs, quality and testing standards, and the ability to translate these requirements into cost effective and reliable controls designs. The engineer will work with internal customers to define the design requirements for appliance controls. Then, they will collaborate with internal and external suppliers to develop control systems that meet these requirements. Testing, validation, and ongoing support of the controls components, throughout the product life cycle, are also primary responsibilities of the Controls Engineer II.
The most important aspect of this position is to define requirements and validate the implementation of control components and systems used in our appliances.
Responsibilities
Controls component & system development
Lead & support controls system design for new product development Design and select controls components, including hardware, wire harnesses, and user interfaces (includes some mechanical design) Define hardware and software functional requirements, based on stakeholder needs
Current product & service support
Lead & support control system design changes to improve product performance, quality and reliability Troubleshoot control system issues discovered on production line or in the field
Control system verification
Lead & support hardware, software, and control system verification Write and manage test requirements Conduct manual and automated verification/validation tests
Product documentation & requirements management
Lead requirements capture and definition, based on stakeholders’ needs Lead reviews of requirements with stakeholders Manage & maintain control system requirements and specifications Create system schematics and mechanical drawings
