Journeyman Database Architect
to join our team in
Doral, FL . Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Assists with data modeling and data conversion, providing DBA support for each tool installed to support the system. They prepare data models from the conceptual, logical, and implementable stages using modeling tools and techniques such as SysML. Supports the installation of database and knowledge management systems, or customizations to systems, working closely with the tools team. Possesses previous experience as a Java or Python programmer and is a hands-on technical person. They assist in the design and implementation of database solutions for ITSM applications, including ServiceNow, Cherwell, or other similar platforms. Works with Application Developers and Systems Administrators to ensure database designs align with business needs and performance requirements. They perform routine database administration tasks, including performance monitoring, basic tuning, backup and recovery, and security administration. Assists in troubleshooting and resolving database performance issues, implementing and maintaining database security measures to protect sensitive information. They ensure database systems are available and meet disaster recovery requirements, and assist in integrating ITSM applications with other systems and data sources. Provides support for ITSM database systems, including troubleshooting and issue resolution. They participate in the evaluation of new database technologies and tools, continuously developing skills and knowledge in database architecture and administration, and receive guidance and direction from more senior staff. Minimum Qualifications: BA/BS in field necessary to assume Database Architect duties or 4 years of additional experience in lieu of a degree 4 years of experience with 2+ years of relevant Database Architect experience. Experience with database technologies such as Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL, or PostgreSQL. Understanding of ITSM processes and best practices. Familiarity with ITSM applications such as ServiceNow, Cherwell, or Remedy. Basic understanding of data center operations and infrastructure. Familiarity with architectural frameworks, including the Unified Architecture Framework (UAF), for understanding and contributing to data center documentation. Database vendor certifications (e.g., Oracle Certified Master (OCM), Microsoft Certified Azure Data Engineer–Associate, AWS Certified Database Specialty). Desired Qualifications: Master’s degree in Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Computer Science, or related field. Experience with cloud-based database services (AWS, Azure, GCP). Experience with database scripting and automation. 8570 IASAE Certification. Experience at a DoD Combatant Command (e.g., SOUTHCOM, NORTHCOM, CENTCOM, CYBERCOM, INDOPACOM, EUCOM, AFRICOM, STRATCOM, TRANSCOM, SOCOM, SPACECOM) or a component is desired. Clearance Requirements: Must have a current/active Secret clearance. Physical Requirements: Must be able to remain in stationary position for up to 50% of the time. Must be able to deliver clear and effective communication verbally and via email, phone, and virtual communication platforms to interface with co-workers and customers. Must be able to occasionally move about inside an office environment to access file cabinets, office machinery, and communicate with co-workers.
