You in The Role and on The Team
As a Mechanical Project Engineer at Prime Robotics, you are a technically skilled professional who transforms high-level customer proposals into build-ready robotic warehouse automation solutions and drives their implementation. Reporting to the VP of Project Delivery, you will own the end-to-end technical execution of customer projects from post-sales through deployment, ensuring seamless delivery of our warehouse automation solutions while maintaining the highest standards of technical excellence and customer satisfaction.

A Day in the Life at Prime Robotics
Project Translation & Design Development
Finalize and translate high-level sales proposals into detailed, build-ready designs across mechanical, software, and systems engineering disciplines
Own and drive the development of final layout drawings, system architecture, pallet/rack configurations, and hardware BOMs for robotic case-pick systems
Coordinate and review racking designs, robot staging plans, and integration zones to ensure seamless compatibility with warehouse environments
Develop comprehensive design packages that translate customer requirements into actionable engineering specifications
Create detailed technical documentation including interface specifications, system architecture diagrams, and component layouts
Validate solution feasibility, system capacity, and customer-specific configuration needs through thorough engineering analysis
Cross-Functional Technical Leadership
Serve as the primary technical liaison between Sales Engineering, Manufacturing, Software, and Field Deployment teams
Lead the handoff process from sales to execution, ensuring all technical requirements are clearly understood and achievable
Support software architecture planning to align workflows (picking logic, exception handling, user interface) with hardware capabilities and customer operations
Collaborate with manufacturing and procurement teams to push production schedules and resolve design-related blockers proactively
Coordinate with field deployment teams to ensure designs are optimized for installation and commissioning
Facilitate technical communication between internal teams and external stakeholders including customers and vendors
Design Validation & Risk Management
Conduct design validation checks, field constructability reviews, and mechanical/electrical interface evaluations
Perform comprehensive system capacity analysis to ensure designs meet customer throughput and performance requirements
Identify engineering risks early and work cross-functionally to mitigate scope creep or timeline impact
Execute pre-implementation design reviews to catch potential issues before they affect project timelines
Validate mechanical interfaces, electrical connections, and software integration points for seamless system operation
Develop contingency plans for potential design challenges or field implementation issues
Customer Interface & Site Management
Support customer design reviews and adjust engineering plans to reflect site-specific requirements or evolving operational needs
Conduct on-site surveys to validate warehouse layouts, infrastructure capabilities, and integration requirements
Lead technical discussions with customer engineering teams, operations managers, and IT personnel
Present design solutions, system capabilities, and implementation timelines to customer stakeholders
Manage customer expectations regarding technical capabilities, project timelines, and operational requirements
Coordinate with customer teams to schedule installation activities and minimize operational disruption
Documentation & Project Management
Maintain and distribute technical documentation including design packages, interface specs, and system readiness checklists
Create and maintain project technical documentation throughout the implementation lifecycle
Develop and update project schedules, milestone tracking, and deliverable timelines
Generate technical reports, progress updates, and risk assessments for internal and customer stakeholders
Ensure all design changes are properly documented, approved, and communicated to relevant teams
Maintain version control and configuration management for all project technical deliverables
