department is seeking a highly independent and specialized professional to serve as the lead for information security. This position works with a high degree of autonomy to provide expert consulting, program development, materials, and analysis across all areas of information security.

The role is responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive, campus-wide information security program that aligns with the academic and administrative objectives of Sinclair Community College. This includes coordinating the creation, implementation, and administration of security policies, standards, and best practices. A key component of the role is the development and delivery of effective security awareness programs for students, faculty, and staff.

As a member of the Sinclair IT Management team, the incumbent contributes essential security expertise and insight to strategic and tactical planning, budget development, institutional reporting, and the planning and execution of major IT initiatives and projects.

The potential minimum compensation for this position begins at $112,144.00 and is commensurate with education and experience.

The selected candidate must reside in the State of Ohio to be eligible.

Principal Accountabilities Develops, maintains, implements, and evaluates security policies, practices, standards and procedures; develops and maintains a written information security plan and security architecture documentation Directs the development and execution of security awareness programs to educate the user community on the safe and ethical use of information technology resources Investigates possible violations of computer and network security and coordinates response to security incidents to include, but not be limited to, notification of campus police, other offices as appropriate, and contact with external response teams Develops procedures to ensure confidentiality, integrity, and accessibility of data and software. Works closely with the network and programming staff on the identification and implementation of appropriate security procedures, software, and hardware Develops and implements procedures and guidelines for internal auditing of information security controls Conducts or facilitates auditing procedures. Coordinates IT General Controls Review component of state mandated annual financial audit and facilitates IT response and necessary remediation Works with other units on campus as appropriate to formulate and promulgate campus wide effective practices and standards for security and access control to data and information systems In conjunction with other IT staff, investigates, recommends, and authorizes security tests or security scans (i.e. vulnerability, penetration) affecting information systems resources Leads technology-related activities related to e-discovery, litigation hold, and other legal requests and response Advise senior College management periodically on status of information security and confidentiality conditions including regulatory and standards compliance, problem areas and recommended enhancements on security issues and/or events Networks with security professionals and colleagues at other higher education institutions, the local community, and in industry regarding broad information security issues and trends Keeps abreast of changes to existing and proposed State and Federal legislation and regulatory laws pertaining to information system security and privacy Keeps management aware of the regulatory changes that will affect information privacy, information processing and/or security standards and techniques All other duties as assigned Requirements

Minimum of a masters degree OR equivalent combination of education and experience (i.e. bachelors degree with extensive experience and certifications) required Minimum of 5 years of experience in a related field required Certification from nationally recognized information security organization or vendor preferred. Expertise is developed via experience and continuing education, and skill-sets are maintained by self-motivation and life-long learning activities Knowledge and experience derived from an extensive background in information systems management and understanding of the skills required at the most senior technical levels Excellent oral and written communication skills and an ability to effectively communicate with a diverse user group required Excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills and the ability to effectively interact with students, faculty, and staff required Working knowledge of networks, programming, and database programs; in-depth knowledge of security policies and procedures in a complex networking environment required Demonstrated ability to work independently, and manage time effectively utilizing work and project plans to meet deadlines required Ability to work as an independent, productive, responsible, self-motivated team member required Supplemental Questions
