The
Senior Manager – Medical Affairs IT
will serve as the technical lead for Medical Affairs technologies, with a strong focus on CRM supporting Field Medical and related operations. This role combines business partnership, systems leadership, and CRM product ownership to deliver high-value digital solutions that enable scientific exchange, operational efficiency, and compliance across Medical Affairs. The ideal candidate brings deep experience with Veeva CRM, is open to learning and applying emerging technologies, and possesses a broad understanding of the Medical Affairs function within a life sciences organization.
Key Responsibilities
Act as a strategic IT partner for Medical Affairs, translating business needs into scalable, compliant technology solutions. Serve as the SME for Veeva CRM for Medical (e.g., HCP Activities, Approved Email, CLM), including configuration, enhancements, and integrations. Lead the implementation and continuous improvement of Medical Affairs capabilities, such as HCP profiling and omnichannel management, medical information, field analytics, transparency reporting. Manage the Medical IT technology roadmap, prioritizing enhancements in collaboration with Medical Operations, Compliance, Legal, and Analytics teams. Oversee data quality, integrations, and system performance across CRM and adjacent systems Partner with stakeholders to develop user stories, technical requirements, and test cases; manage UAT and training activities. Collaborate with analytics and AI teams to ensure accurate data capture and enable real-time field insights and KPIs. Ensure all systems and changes follow regulatory, privacy, and compliance standards (21 CFR Part 11, GxP, Sunshine Act, GDPR). Manage vendor relationships across platform providers and implementation partners. Stay informed on emerging digital technologies, AI/automation, and industry best practices to drive innovation in Medical Affairs IT.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Life Sciences, or a related field. 6+ years of experience in IT or Business Technology roles, with at least 2 years in a Medical Affairs or pharmaceutical CRM setting. Hands-on experience with Veeva CRM for Medical, including configuration, data model, Approved Email, and CLM. Proficiency in query languages (e.g., SQL) and/or scripting or coding languages Understanding of AI/ML applications, including large language models, and their potential to enhance Medical Affairs operations. Strong understanding of compliance, transparency reporting, and medical engagement tracking. Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
Preferred Attributes
Veeva CRM or Vault certifications. Familiarity with analytics tools (e.g., MyInsights, PowerBI) and data integration platforms (e.g., MDM, Snowflake). Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-growth environment. Passion for improving healthcare through digital transformation and innovation.
Compensation:
Base salary is determined by several factors that include, but are not limited to, a successful candidate's qualifications, skills, education, experience, business needs, and market demands. The role may also be eligible for bonus, equity, and comprehensive benefits, which include flexible paid time off (PTO), medical, dental, vision, and life and disability insurance.
