Test Engineer
Perform a wide variety of fastener and joint tests (e.g. Torque to Failure, Ultrasonic Torque-Tension, Coaxial Torque-Tension/Coefficient of Friction, Torque-out, Push-out, Joint Slip Force, etc.) Independently and accurately complete tests, stratify results and issue reports for approval Create and manage 'test incident' documentation to facilitate and track corrective actions Management of laboratory assets, ensuring all equipment is maintained, calibrated and serviced Develop, author and ensure conformance to laboratory standard operating procedures Support engineering staff in the root cause analysis of test failures and failure analysis workstreams Support management in the procurement, purchase and installation of new equipment Mechanics, hand tools Practical knowledge of mechanics (e.g. forces, moments, friction) including a basic understanding of the interactions between the torque, clamp load and friction Experience operating universal test systems (e.g. Instron, Zwick etc.). Experience working with torque wrenches, electric nutrunners and any specialized test equipment (e.g. ultrasonic testing, digital-image-correlation) is a plus Fundamental knowledge of materials-centric automotive test standards (e.g. ASTM, ISO, SAE). Experience working with vendors and external test labs Strong interpersonal and communication skills in order to establish effective working relationships An ability to effectively handle multiple priorities, meet deadlines and manage time independently; must maintain top level professional integrity and appearance throughout Knowledge, understanding and a track record of conformance to ISO 17025 is advantageous The pay range for this position is $35.00/hr.
