Senior Scientist (Process Chemist)

AbbVie Product Development Science & Technology is seeking a Senior Scientist (process chemist) to conduct late-stage chemical process development, supporting projects from late clinical development through commercialization and throughout the product lifecycle. The ideal candidate will be a highly motivated scientist, with a proven track record of accomplishment in the field of organic synthesis, to work in a multi-functional team environment. The candidate will be responsible for developing organic chemistry processes and executing on scale to provide practical access to potential therapies, which may include small molecules and/or antibody drug conjugates (ADCs). The position involves multi-disciplinary interactions with organic chemists, analytical chemists, engineers, and solid-state scientists. Responsibilities: Routinely demonstrate scientific initiative and creativity in development and commercialization activities. Maintain autonomous and productive performance in laboratory experimentation, requiring only minimal direction from or interaction with supervisor. Formulate conclusions and design follow-on experiments based on multidisciplinary data. Pursue areas of investigation that are scientifically impactful to pipeline programs. Effectively collaborate with cross-functional team members to drive pipeline and commercial programs. Author publications, presentations, regulatory documents, and/or patents. Demonstrate high proficiency across a wide range of relevant technologies. Maintain a high level of productivity in the lab, pilot plant, and/or manufacturing support space. Understand and adhere to corporate standards regarding code of conduct, safety, appropriate handling of materials, controlled drug and radioactive compounds, and GxP compliance. Be a subject matter expert to other functions within the project team Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree or equivalent education and typically 10 years of experience, Master's Degree or equivalent education and typically 8 years of experience, PhD and no experience necessary. A broad range of functional expertise in modern synthetic organic chemistry, compound purification, and spectral analysis/interpretation. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Additional Information: The compensation range described below is the range of possible base pay compensation that the Company believes in good faith it will pay for this role at the time of this posting based on the job grade for this position. Individual compensation paid within this range will depend on many factors including geographic location, and we may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This range may be modified in the future. This job is eligible to participate in our short-term incentive programs.
