WGSS Student Associate (Work-Study)
This is a Work-study position for students attending UT Austin. A work-study Fall 2025 award letter must be attached along with other required materials to be considered. This position is in-person. Apply by August 15 for priority consideration. Must be work-study award eligible for Fall 2025. Employment contingent on providing work-study award prior to start date. The Department of Women's, Gender and Sexuality Studies is the home for intersectional feminist and queer studies research, teaching, and learning on the UT campus. Our areas of strength include Black Feminisms, Disability Studies and Feminist Health Studies, LGBTQ Studies, and Transnational Feminisms. DWGSS houses the Center for Women's and Gender Studies and the LGBTQ Studies Program, two centers for research and programming that bring together faculty affiliates from across campus. Purpose
Provide support for the Department of Women's, Gender and Sexuality Studies (WGSS) day-to-day operations of the office by acting as receptionist and completing clerical tasks. Event tabling and outreach to undergraduate students throughout the year for promoting events and academic programs. Responsibilities
We are seeking a work-study student who is out-going, extroverted, and enjoys being around people. This position will help recruit and perform outreach for our academic programs and publicize WGSS at different events. This position will also help manage the front desk/reception area. Students will also be asked to help with other clerical tasks in the office. Candidates should be qualified to perform such duties as: answering phones, preparing mailings, including event publicity; data entry; office filing; flyering; helping with website; and assisting with event coordination. Ideal candidate should also be skilled at time management, able to multi-task, meet deadlines and balance multiple projects. Our office uses Microsoft Suite and Apple computers. Other related duties as assigned. Required Qualifications
A desire to connect with students on campus and public speaking skills. Microsoft Office Suite, problem solving skills, excellent verbal and written communication skills, and previous office work experience. Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate. Preference will be given to applicants who are detail-oriented, organized, flexible, and can work independently and accurately with little supervision. Students must be awarded Federal Work-Study on the Work-Study Verification (WSV). Meet Satisfactory Academic Progress Policy standards as set by the Office of Scholarships and Financial Aid. Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate. Salary
$14/hour Working Conditions
Standard office environment. Working hours will generally be between Monday -Friday, 8:00 - 5:00, to be scheduled with supervisor.
